Without making any moves, we currently have $43,446,056 in cap space next year.

I,

-Cut Allen Hurns.
-Cut Terrance Williams.
-Gave Dak Prescott Matt Ryan money.
-Gave Ezekiel Elliott Todd Gurley money.
-Gave Amari Cooper OBJ money.
-Gave DeMarcus Lawrence Khalil Mack money.
-Gave Byron Jones Josh Norman money.
-Gave Earl Thomas Eric Berry money.

After all of that, we still have over $19 MIL to play with, and that's even after exaggerating some numbers. There's still enough to re-sign any combination of Beasley, Austin, Irving, L.P., Wilson, Rod, Swaim, etc. That's without restructuring anyone. And if you're interested in another $7 MIL, you can cut Sean Lee.

Anyone saying we won't be able to re-sign all our guys or can't sign ET is lying. And extending Dak won't at all prevent you from keeping the team together, despite what some will lead you to believe. Say what you want about Jerry and the front office, but we're the best drafting team in the NFL, we have one of the youngest rosters, we have Pro Bowl talent across the board, and we're in great cap shape moving forward. We're far removed from the "salary cap Hell" days. It almost looks like our front office knows what they're doing.

If they know what they're doing, they'll start looking to extend guys they want to keep who aren't in contract years as well. If they're smart and fortunate, maybe they can lock up some guys at rates that will be lower than the market would have been when those guys' contracts would have expired.

That's a bit of a fallacious argument. Sure we can do all of that, but it's not the initial year of signings that get you. It's two or three years down the road when you start feeling the pinch from the signings.

Terrance Williams is a goner. I'm looking forward to that. He has done very little as a player for us in some time.

I'm neutral on Hurns although he hasn't done much for us either. Any extra cap room that isn't being utilized should be utilized.

You can probably add at least some of Sean Lee's contract to "found money" too.

We may do all of what you suggested. I don't think you will get your entire wish list though.

Plus they will have around 10m in rollover cap space

This is unchartered territory for JJ's Cowboys. I bet he's loving it & he doesn't seem to care who gets the credit for it.

I like it. I'm just a little worried about Earl Thomas. He seems borderline injury prone. But if this defense can carry over to next season I don't mind adding another impact player and crossing my fingers.

Nice, but I ain't giving Dak Matt Ryan money. Tank gets something less than Mack. I'm not giving a 30 something, coming off a bad injury, ET a big contract. As good as Byron has been, we can't overpay him like Norman. I do agree each of them needs to get paid, but let's keep them within reason.

That all depends on how you structure the contacts. I could see us front loading some contacts to make it easier to move on from certain guys after 2-3 years without much of a hit.

Dallas has 47.3mil in cap for 2019, and 6.1mil in rollover

53.4mil roughly in cap for 2019

Lee retires it climbs to 60.4mil
Hurns released 65.4mil
TW released 67.65mil
Extend Crawford can take his cap down by half 72.65mil

Extend Dak 6yrs 99mil 60mil guaranteed. 16.5mil AAV
Resign Lawrence 6yrs 108mil 50mil SB 18mil AAV
Extend Amari Cooper 6yrs 90mil 48mil SB 15mil AAV
Byron Jones 5yrs 60mil 40mil guranteed 12mil AAV

The good thing about these deals is these numbers dont go into effect until 2020 except for Lawrence. In 2020 Dallas has 113mil in cap room as of right now and whatever rollover they will have.

Sign Earl Thomas and Jesse James and i think Dallas is a Superbowl favorite team.

-Cut Allen Hurns. - YES
-Cut Terrance Williams. - YES
-Gave Dak Prescott Matt Ryan money. - No - Not as close.
-Gave Ezekiel Elliott Todd Gurley money. - Yes
-Gave Amari Cooper OBJ money. No - A little less
-Gave DeMarcus Lawrence Khalil Mack money. - No a little less
-Gave Byron Jones Josh Norman money. Yes.
-Gave Earl Thomas Eric Berry money. No - do not even sign him.

Thats the point.

If we sign all of those guys to these kind of contracts in three years we will be in the same situation we were 4 years ago. This is not the way you maange a team in the salary cap era.

People have to remember that the CBA ends after 2020..... it will be smart to push as much Dead Money to 2021 as possible..... it may be an uncapped year like 2010

Use signing bonuses, restructures to the OL and back loaded deals to get as much talent as possible the next few years before any big changes to the CBA

Owners are not going to have any guaranteed money past 2020 if there is going to be a lockout... we will see less longterm deals

Yeah, I intentionally overpaid everyone to prove the point we can in fact re-sign everyone. We know they’re all going to sign for less than that, which bodes well for us.

Please don’t cut Hurns who is a nice role player.
Please don’t give DLaw Mack money....I love DLaw, but he is NOT Khalil Mack.
Please stay away from ET.
Don’t give Zeke anything until after next year. Unlike Dak, Zeke is making very good money as the #4 overall pick. He’s worth it, but why pay him before you need to?

It seems a lot of people think you're advocating for these deals for these players and thus are missing the point.

Good work putting this together, it helps put things in perspective.

Personally I don't want to move on Thomas and I think the total price will be at most 80ish percent of what you described for the others, so my scenario looks extremely healthy cap wise and I may need to rethink my stance on Thomas
