Anyone play it yet? If so, what are your initial thoughts?

I am on the fence as of now, I didn't realize it came out today but I had been a huge fan of the series since NES/ps1/ps2/ps3. I caught a few game play videos and it doesn't seem to play like the metal gear solid I loved. It's almost déjà vu to me because resident evil 6 (which was by far the worst one in the series) completely changed what made it a great series/game and it looks like that is what happened to MGS5 :(. It looks like metal gear solid crossed with f.e.a.r. I really am between a rock and a hard place with this.

Plays and looks amazing to me. Was worried about Kiefer Sutherland taking over for the voice acting, but he is terrific from what little I've heard. The game has a 95 score on metacritc and is widely considered to be the best MGS game ever and Snake Eater is one of the best games of all time in my opinion. I think it will win Game of The Year personally but Fallout 4 and The Witcher will give it a run for its money. The game is a must buy if you like the franchise.

I bought it last night at our midnight release at Gamestop. I worked my first midnight release there, since I got on recently part time with them for the discount. I haven't loaded it and played it yet.

Here is something about the pc{physical copy} release....

Metal Gear Solid 5 discs reportedly contain a Steam installer and nothing else - See more at: http://www.gamewatcher.com/news/201...staller-and-nothing-else#sthash.m1ZrQass.dpuf

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is released on PC today, digitally and in physical disc format. Or, as it turns out, just the former. A Twitter user who got their physical copy of Hideo Kojima's latest action-stealth epic has posted a number of screenshots that suggest the only file on the disc is a Steam installer. We live in a very stupid era. That's just under 9MB of data, if you're wondering. It's the sort of thing that makes a bit of a mockery of the fact that a lot of industry chart websites still don't include digital sales in their final tally. That means that people will have some serious downloading to do – around 28GB - before they want to play MGS5, even if they grab a boxed copy. Thankfully, it sounds like the game is worth the wait. - See more at: http://www.gamewatcher.com/news/201...staller-and-nothing-else#sthash.m1ZrQass.dpuf

Been playing for a few hours now and yeah this game has blown my mind. I honestly finally feel a true next Gen experience. It is just a beautifully well rounded game with an epic story, solid game mechanics and tremendous graphics. Once you hit the open world, yeah I think this game deserves all the 10/10 reviews it is getting. It is a gaming masterpiece.

And to add an edit I cant believe the TC compared this to F.E.A.R and Resident Evil 6. Just wow

Haven't played the series since the first 2 titles on the PS1 and PS2. Downloading it now. The reviews so far have been beyond stellar and it looks to be game of the year material.

Didn't like 4, thought it was mediocre and it really soured me the series, so I had some doubts about 5 but decided to pick it up anyways and wow I'm glad I did if chapter 1 is anything to go by this is going to be amazing like 1 and 3

I loaded it last night...but still haven't tried it out yet. I'm too busy playing Destiny and trying to get all I can in before The Taken King comes out. I just started playing Destiny last week.

I've also got Resident Evil and Blood Borne started...and I still need to play Dragon Age and Far Cry 4!!!! So many games...so little time. Dang it.

So far the gameplay is fantastic! Controls are fluid, combat is tight. Sandbox elements are great and the open world isn't cluttered with an obnoxious amount of things to stop and pick up. Pretty good balance of collectables, and at least they all improve you abilities down the line.

Graphics are phenomenal. The world and animations are top notch.

Still waiting for next Gen AI.. cause the AI hasn't improved much since the PS1 days to be honest. Super easy to sneak about especially at night time. Hoping once I beat the game and unlock big boss mode or whatever Xtra hard is called, it'll be a bit more challenging.

The again I have not fought a real boss battle yet.

So far the only thing I'm missing/down on are cutscenes and storyline content. Outside of the opening chapter, there has been very little of either.
