Allen Bailey Interview
December 22, 2010

The 2011 NFL Draft will feature a number of interesting prospects with a wide array of backgrounds but Miami DL Allen Bailey might be the most intriguing of all. With a body that looks as though it was carved out of marble and a freakish blend of size, strength and athleticism, Bailey is one of the more impressive physical specimens you will ever come across. An extremely versatile prospect, Bailey has extensive experience at both defensive end and defensive tackle and is capable of playing either position at the next level and could fit in an even or odd front. With only a bowl game left to go before he takes his talents to the NFL, Bailey was kind enough to sneak an interview with Draft Countdown's Scott Wright into his busy schedule.

Scott Wright: What is your accurate height, weight and forty time?
Allen Bailey: 6-3½, 276 and the last forty I ran was 4.65

Scott Wright: The stories about what you’re capable of doing in the weight room are almost legendary and everyone expects you do put up some eye-popping numbers in pre-Draft workouts. Can you give a preview of where you’re currently at when it comes to body fat, vertical leap, bench press, etc.
Allen Bailey: Last body fat test I had was 8%, vertical should be around 36 or 37 inches, bench press max is like 420 pounds.

Scott Wright: Did you consider entering the 2010 NFL Draft and if so what kind of feedback did you receive from the NFL’s Underclassmen Advisory Panel?
Allen Bailey: From the panel I got back late first or early second round. I wanted to stay and graduate and I’m only like twelve credits away from graduating.

Scott Wright: You have played both tackle and end for the Hurricanes. Which position do you prefer and are you open to playing either at the next level? What about scheme, 4-3 or 3-4?
Allen Bailey: I prefer the end but wherever I’m needed I’ll try my best to do it. Scheme-wise I really don’t have a preference.

Scott Wright: What would you say is your greatest strength as a football player? What area do you need to work on?
Allen Bailey: My greatest strengths are probably my power and speed. I need to work on using my hands more and getting off blocks when it comes to pass rush.

Scott Wright: Do you intend to play in any all-star games after the season?
Allen Bailey: I got a Senior Bowl invite so I’m going to talk it over and make a decision.

Scott Wright: It’s obviously still early but do you have any goals in mind when it comes to the NFL Draft (i.e. Round 1, Top 3 Rounds, etc.)?
Allen Bailey: I’m going to shoot for the top, so first round.

Scott Wright: I really appreciate the time. Take care and best of luck.
