Dolphins signed DB Nathan Jones to a two-year contract.

He'll be a dime back or fifth corner and special teamer in Miami.

Nate was a great little blitzer, but couldnt cover jack.

With Davis, Reeves, and Jones all being shown the door, I actually think this is addition by subtraction.

Time to clear the crap off the roster and get some CBs in here that can actually cover.

This might not be all bad. It forces us to draft some legit talent at corner and maybe pick up Pac. But I am much more excited to see more of this kid Ball. The coaches like him and I'm interested to see why. I would guess we will see more of him this season.

who cares, I think we just clinched our 4th comp pick in 2009 for losing a bunch of nothing...Reeves, Davis, Jones & Jones...just guessing, but we probably get something like a 4th (JuJo), 5th (Reeves) and two 7ths (Davis & N Jones) for that

those picks cant be traded next yr, but its another reason we can afford to be aggresive in the draft this yr

David
Do you really think the JJ and Reeves picks will be that high? I figured their salaries were too low, more like maybe a 6th and a couple of 7ths in compensation.

This is when a guy like Reggie Smith who is versatile enough to play both Corner and FS would be nice to have.

He would give us the same flexibility Nate Jones did except with much more talent.

GREAT POINT.
Reggie Smith, DJ Parker or even more Versatile, Marcus Griffin

Adam is the expert at that kind of stuff, but didnt JuJo get like almost 4mils a yr?

we should get 4 of them I think unless we start running after some of the remaining fee agents (guys who were not released) and there simply arnt any I see we'd go after right now

like I said, I think a 4th, 5th and two 7th's...I would say Jones and Reeves at worst would be 5th and 6th, N Jones and Davis will be 7ths I think though

awfully big contract for a water boy isn't it?

in all fairness if Reeves could get that 5 year 20 million dollar contract anyone can get paid in the nfl apparently

i think in another thread, Adam et al discussed the comp picks and it was a 5th for Reeves, 6th for Jones, 7th for Davis. i'm guessing it is another 7th for NJones

7 pics in the last 3 rounds? We should trade our own 5th, 6th and 7th rounders and move up as high as possible.

Otherwise we will be on the clock every 30 minutes. The chat room could implode!!!

It looks like Nate Jones' contract won't be enough to qualify for next year's comp equation -- unless by some miracle he plays almost every snap and makes the Pro Bowl. He signed for only $725,000 per season, but some of that (at least $15,000 per season) doesn't count in the equation.

So for now, it looks like we might get a fifth for Reeves, a sixth for Julius Jones and a seventh for Davis next year.
