Little too high for a guy that's TIRED in his second season
I don't like it but you have a very strong point.
It's disturbing when you compare Micah's first 11 games to the last 6 in 2022.
In the first 11 games there were 32 players with 6 or more sacks. Of these 32, Micah was 2nd in sacks, 2nd in forced fumbles, 5th in QB hits, 5th in tackles for a loss, 3rd in solo tackles and 3rd in combined tackles. Remember, this is mostly playing EDGE.
In the last 6 games he totally disappears. For players with one or more sacks, he doesn't make the top 20 in a single category. If he had started out the way he had finished, nobody would be thinking 1st team All Pro, DPY candidate for 2023, future Hall of Famer, etc.
Even more disturbing is that last season was almost a carbon copy of his rookie season.
In 2021, through the first 11 games, Parsons is dominating in every category. Under the previous conditions, all players with 6 or more sacks in the first 11 games, Parsons is 1st in solo tackles and combined tackles, 2nd in QB hits, 2nd in tackles for a loss, and 10th in sacks. He is also 9th in forced fumbles, tied with many.
In the final 6 games of 2021, for those with at least one sack, he does manage to tie for 15th in sacks with seven others, ties for 18th place in QB hits, ties for 14th in tackles for a loss with 12 others and is not a top 20 in any tackling category.
This is rather glaring and so I have to believe the Cowboys coaches realize this.
In the NBA there have been circumstances in which a healthy starter is benched for an entire game. Understanding that we are talking about 17 games in the NFL but I think they should consider giving Micah more rest early in the season. If things are going well for the team then perhaps they could sit him against a couple of weak opponents in September and November.
That would certainly be a risk but wouldn't we want a fresher, stronger Micah come playoff time?
