Micah expected to ask for $200 million

Please paste Micah's exact quotes related to his contract demands that you are referring to, not stories about what he may or may not have said or may or may not be looking for. I honestly don't know what he wants and would love to read them form him. I'm just tired of people using click bait articles as a reason to attack a player. IMO Micah would be foolish to sign for anything less than $40.1M per year as we sit here today and if they wait until next year it's probably going to be $45M per. That's how it works. I'm guessing if he was offered $36M per for 5 years in December he would have signed it.
I'm not about to do your homework for you. If you haven't been paying enough attention to know what I'm talking about, you've done yourself a serious disservice. One day, Micah says he'd be perfectly content not to get the maximum contractual amount and within the next few days, he's already crowing about how thrilled he'd be to get $40 million for his just reward.

It's simply stuff for fools like Jerry to swallow, so that he gets what he really wants. He wouldn't be harping on getting $40 mil now if he were really going to be satisfied with $36, instead. It's fools like Jerry who are ideally suited to swallow that kind of crap. He's playing Jerry like a fiddle. He's a LB trying to be paid like a DE. Jerry should know better than to fall for it, but he doesn't.

5th year isn’t relevant because the 5th year exists no matter what. Even if they signed him today the 5th year option still exists.

You are right that the exclusive tag will be around that next year(which they would need in this case) but the 2nd tag is 20% over the first by rule. That means you are paying him 2 years 77m in a way that is brutal for the cap. After which he leaves at 28 and takes 4 years 200m minimum possibly 5 years 250m.
The numbers on the tags are rough estimates, but the logic works,
if we can assume that he starts to lose his super power soon….

which is his speed.

Even if they sign him for 5 years, he likely gets a post June cut before the contract expires.

Play out the 5th year, and then tag + tag.

Saves mega $$$$.

I would ask for $201,183,292.77 exactly for 4.5 yrs !
( now lets see some math guy figure up what that is per year !)

Now supposedly it is for 5 yrs, lol but only terrence said that, what if it is 4 years !

Why not, they drafted Micah in the first place. Get two players who only have 80-90% of Micah's ability at 10% of the cost. It's how you build a team vs paying a few super stars.

Who’s won and did that
In Last 10 superbowls.
Not KC any of the three times . Not Philly twice . Not LA, Not Tampa, Not Denver. You can say New England but that was Bill and Tom.
You want Superbowls then you pay big time players. You bring in big time FAs. Building champs through the draft is a myth!

I think greed takes over when these players start talking to their agents. The agents tell them they are worth more than they might be willing to settle for, probably remind them that their careers could end at anytime so they need to maximize their value now, likely tell them the money being spent on them does not keep teams from signing other players, etc.

I mean, Parsons could have had every intention of accepting less to allow Dallas to bring in someone like Myles Garrett ... until contract negotiations started and his agents made it clear to him what he can and should get.

Right. The KC Chiefs didn't let DT Chris Jones go last offseason but instead made him the highest-paid DT in the league. Why? Because it's hard to successfully find replacements for those top-tier players. I mean, we essentially stumbled onto Parsons after the two CBs we wanted to take went off the board.

He is getting 40 and he knows it. He could get more than 40 and he knows it.

He’s not showing up for his “5th year” unless he gets an extension. The man never said he’s giving a discount. Never said it. He indicated he does not have to be the highest paid. He can sign for $40 million AAV and depending on the guaranteed money not be the highest paid.

Jerry played chicken with Dak and got slaughtered. The same will happen if he does the same with Micah.

I don't know about more than 40. There is no evidence to support that. Myles Garrett signed a $40 million APY deal this offseason that may have set the cap. The next highest, Maxx Crosby, also got a new deal this year for $35.4 APY.

I think unless someone comes along and bumps Garrett off the mountain before Micah gets his deal that Parsons' camp knows it would be in elite company if Dallas matches Garrett's APY. If Garrett had set the market at $40 million last year, then Parsons could expect more.

Look at it like the Lamb situation. Jefferson got a contract with $35 million APY. Later the same offseason, Dallas gave Lamb $34 million APY.

I don't see any argument that can be made that Parsons is better than Garrett. An argument can be made that he's on the same level, though, and should be paid the same as him.

good, I'd give him 500. We can get scrubs to play the other positions. Don't worry about a man's money, you get that money boy, you're only young once. Heck, I'd give him 750 million.

This 40 a year deal doesn't hurt the Cowboys.

Get all you can. This front office has shown they aren't serious about championships so you might as well maximize your money while you can. Why should Micah give them a discount just for them to go and give out 1 year mercenary deals to backups?
