Micah expected to ask for $200 million

I think greed takes over when these players start talking to their agents. The agents tell them they are worth more than they might be willing to settle for, probably remind them that their careers could end at anytime so they need to maximize their value now, likely tell them the money being spent on them does not keep teams from signing other players, etc.

I mean, Parsons could have had every intention of accepting less to allow Dallas to bring in someone like Myles Garrett ... until contract negotiations started and his agents made it clear to him what he can and should get.
What irks me more than anything is that Micah never should have laid down false intentions and then he felt free to do exactly what he already knew his agent would do. If that's what he's made of, perhaps trading him for whatever he might bring would work out well for us in the long run.

He's likely to go back on his words again if he willing to do it the first time. Jerry gets too palsy with some of these players, while they just don't feel obliged to be honest with him in the long run. If that's what Jerry allows to happen with one player, the others won't hesitate to do the same. He's setting a very bad precedent.

I don't know if we can say it was false intentions. Micah could have believed that he would take less if it meant bringing in higher-quality free agents. Most players are not business savvy. I'm sure his comments came from the heart and then he got slapped with the reality of the business side of football.

Fans get too caught up in what these players say. They play football. They are not rocket scientists. Football smart does not necessarily equate to financially smart or any kind of other smart. I just want players who can play, I don't care if they say dumb things.

I don't care about the players saying dumb things but when Jerry does so when his words are known to be meaningless, it's a different story. He's been far too palsy with Micah, while other players are seeing Jerry showing special considerations in the meantime. I care a lot about that. Other players are sure to be displeased with that special kind of treatment that they can't get. That's just bad business.

What are the special considerations you are talking about? I don't think this negotiation is any different than the one with Lamb or with Prescott last year. I just don't see any special treatment unless I'm missing something. They are treating him the same way they have treated all high-end players they've negotiated to kee, which in general has meant giving them what they want.

Jerry needs summer drama. It will be dragged out until the end of TC.
It seems like he likes the drama to be in the headlines. Terrible way to run a team but that’s Jerry. In his mind there’s value in the publicity. But in reality he just looks like an old fool

Money over success.
Trade please.
Lol at armchair QBs telling players who have a very limited shelf life in a dangerous game, to take less money for a chance at some ring. Got to love it. Only fans are telling players to take less so they have a chance to sign more players. Maybe if our front office was worth sand, they could put together an adequate team.

And trade? Dallas is at the wrong side of every single trade I've seen in the last few decades. They get peanuts for top 10 WRs and give up 3rd-4th round picks for scrub QBs,WRs. Like this front office would actually nail a Parsons trade.

Why would his agents not ask for $200 million? Nick Bosa got a five-year, $170 million deal two years ago, with a $50 million signing bonus. They wouldn't be doing their jobs if they didn't seek an increase over that.

Hopefully, Micah's can be structured similarly, with two void years at the end of essentially a six-year deal. Bosa's base his first three years was under $2 million each year while his fourth-year base jumps to $22 million (with the team able to restructure in 2026 if he's still playing at a high level).
or more recently, it's the same aav as myles, but with an extra year tacked on. shrug

And it can be argued that age and wear and tear are worse for Garrett since he is or will be 30 this year and has been in the league eight years.
