Micah is a no show at voluntary OTAs this week

Jerry and Stephen believe drawing out big name cowboy players contracts is a positive way to keep the team in the news morons.
Is everyone here a moron? Before you start rolling that out I'd be careful about calling contract disputes a "positive" way of keeping the team in the news. I doubt even the Jones family sees that as a truly "positive" way of doing so. Maybe they see it as a better alternative than not being in the news at all, but I doubt they deliberately manipulate things so that they can have tension in negotiations become the story.

He’s one of the 3 best defenders in football.

If Dallas could get an incredible draft haul for him I’d do it but it starts with 2 first rounders.
Thank you for at least considering the possiblilty. There is often a lot of name calling when this opyion, albeit an unlikely one, gets brought up.

IIRC, I do think that there was additional context to Martin's situation. It's probably now well known. And that's probably because what created it is likely to be technically a violation of league rules and/or the agreement with the players' union. But Martin, according to some reports at the time, had been all but explicitly promised to be compensated better in the future if he'd take a more team friendly deal after his rookie one (I think it was) expired. The Cowboys, supposedly, dragged their feet for an extra year, maybe two, in extending/renegotiating his contract to do so. So, he held out to force the issue.

I think the difference in Martin's situation was that the winks and nods were obvious and undeniable, but the Cowboys thought they could keep skating by on the informality of it all. These types of things aren't supposed to happen, but probably do all the time. But I think I remember reading that Martin, for all intents and purposes, was promised a big pay day later, if he'd take the lower salary in the moment. It wasn't an implicit understanding, or a strong hint, but a verbal commitment that fell just within the bounds of plausible deniability.

I'm not defending what the Cowboys and/or Martin (supposedly) did but, if the reports were accurate (and I believed them to be at the time), then I understand why Martin held like he did. I still don't like that he did it. The whole thing should never have happened, but it did.
This is most certainly not “well known”, at least around here. It would have been posted everywhere and investigated.

Not sure they may be! I'm basing my assessment on the fact that this happens more with the cowboys' front office than any other team in the league and Jerrys need to be in the limelight so while you may have your doubts which is fine everyone is entitled their own opinion even me.

Ots just a fancy way of saying "show up if you care about winning, be "traveling" and don't show up if you just want dat check

The Cowboys could get a haul for him. There would be some AFC teams out there that are desperate to get over the hump, nthat would give two 1sts, and maybe a 3rd or so for him.

I'd avoid teams like KC or Buffalo, where it's a good bet their picks would be late 20s or 30 for a while. But teams like Denver, Chargers, Pittsburg, cincy...teams that have a lot of pressure to win now but who also could have a bad season or 2 in the near future would be ideal. Or the Colts even better
No team will give up even one first for Parsons, let alone two. Has it ever happened that a team acquired a player for two first round draft picks and it got them “over the hump”?

If Jerry had a presser and said Parsons was on the trading block and the asking price was one 1st rounder, all 31 other teams would call him in less than 24 hours.
No, they wouldn’t. First of all, all 31 teams cannot afford Micah Parsons. Second, many teams don’t need Micah Parsons. He will not be traded for anything. Cowboys fans need to accept he’s a Cowboys player for the balance of his career and he’s going to be paid a lot of money.

As he always is
Don't ever say that on here or you'll get bashed harder than a cat named coogiguy03!!! You said ALWAYS yikes, I bet nobody will come for you sheesh. They're going to say he was there once but now he's not here, I didn't find it to be authentic at all. If you're going to be there, be there, want to talk about being a leader be a leader!!

No to the "and it got them over the hump"

But there's always a first and desperation leads plenty of teams to give up 2 firsts for lesser talents than Micah.

To be clear....I'm not saying I would do that if I were a GM of another team....but those GMs for other teams aren't as savvy as TheGreatCowboysLakersOhioStateFan is.

Trade him, Jerry.

He will start to fall off as soon as he’s paid. He also does nothing against good teams or in the playoffs.

He’s too interested in the “influencer” lifestyle.

You could get some good draft capital for him. Do it.
Only fools want to trade a top 3 defensive player.
Guys don’t do their job 24 hours a day. It even the best ones. Talking on a microphone might be the safest and most restful hobby there is. It is definitely better than golfing, skiing, or fishing, Yall crack me up.

The last time two firsts were traded for a player it was the Browns acquiring Watson. No General Manager foolish enough to suggest trading to firsts for any player, no ownership group is desperate enough to consider it. The trade for Watson was three years ago. Still fresh in the minds of every front office.

Take them for all their worth Micah. In Jerry's world of snake oil if you couldn't win the championship with all the superstars on the cheap, overpay all of them at the top of the market and run it back again. Low brow Dallas fans will come back with unfettered hope and open checkbooks to eat it up no matter what.
