Micah Parsons as a Boxer?

I was pondering a social experiment last year after noticing that Parsons had a lot of the same attributes Mike Tyson had/has, but as a football player. I wonder how good Parsons would be at boxing after his NFL career.

Here is my prediction. Parsons is already training at boxing now. I'm not sure if he was doing any of it before, but Coach McCarthy brought in boxing sort of as his personal routine during the offseason last year. He was rather quiet, then came into camp looking pretty fit. I think that set an example. I wonder if we'll see MCarthy in similar shape this year. He obviously put it back on as the season went on, but he earned it up until that San Fran game. I still wonder about his ability to coach, specifically in Dallas. I think McCarthy is a fine coach. He was a really fine coach in Green Bay. I give him a C minus in the area of his relationship with Moore. It could have worked, I think, had Mike put his ego aside and made it work, but he did bring boxing. That's what I see this season.

Anyway, I see Parsons having a boxing career after the NFL. And he'll start training some, is my guess, with some of these boxers hanging out in dallas.
, yep, this is a loooonnnnnnngggg off season.. TC can't get here soon enough. Maybe he should start with wrestling alligators. Mano a mano.

I’ve heard his coach Durde is boxing regularly as well maybe they think it will help his game

Yup,
Micah is definitely going through a cycle. I think here at the Zone we've entertained roles for him at DE, off ball LB, RB, and others have even jokingly chimed in as Micah the QB during these discussions. Or maybe not so jokingly. But then there's also Tweet Author and now boxer.

Kinda makes me think of the old marketing campaign of Bo Jackson.
Remember?

Hopefully he doesn’t decide to leave football for a while and go into boxing like Ed, too tall Jones. Too tall left after the 78 season, which was the Cowboys last Super Bowl season under Landry, and returned to the Cowboys in 1980. His boxing record was 6-0 against mediocre competition. I guess he either figured he wouldn’t stand a chance against world class fighters or he missed football.

If I recall correctly, there was a fight I was watching where Too Tall got knocked to his knees and he was almost now the same height as his opponent. lol

There was a thread in the Off Topic Zone many years ago that said if you took the best 12 running backs in football to fight 12 Navy Seals, who would win?

Seen plenty of great athletes who can't even throw out the first pitch without looking stupid. I doubt Parsons could compete in boxing.

Tyson would completely demolish any NFL player today, even while giving up 30 years of age.

It would be a mismatch. The Seals would wipe the floor with them

as a matter of fact, the 12 best fighters in the NHL would beat their assses too……on or off the ice.

I've always imagined Tyron going into the MMA post football. Not many guys are 300 lbs and ripped like he's is. Plus, the ability of leverage and brute strength. I dunno thought, with the neck and back injuries he's had.
That's interesting. If I were to guess one of our current players who could go MMA, it would be Odighizuwa, because he's an elite wrestler, which can really be helpful in the octagon.

He’s gonna be so rich he won’t need the money and too old to start a new career in boxing by the time he’s done
Not really. It depends on when he retires from football. Hopefully, that won't be soon. But I could see him retiring if he loses speed or gets a serious injury to his knee or something. In any event, just a thought. He strikes me as the kind of Hershel Walker type guy who can compete until his 50s if he stays in shape.

What are you talking about!?! Jamal Lewis did the same thing while playing in the NFL.

yeah complete diferent thing..being tough is being tough..being trained to kill well now thats an entirly diferent set of skills all together. A really tough guy could in fact go 1v1 with a seal and maybe do some damage... you up the numbers and now your messing with a group of killers who will move and act together to achieve the goal.. dont go up against a trained group of seals would be the moral of this story lol
