Watching Micah Parsons make plays on defense all over the field is a beautiful thing to behold. For the first time in too long, we Cowboys fans have a star on defense who is actually a weapon, not just a decent starter.

And…he’s doing most of this on sheer natural ability. Because after only 3 games, he’s just getting started learning the NFL game. The exciting thing ahead is to see how well Parsons continues to grow and develop as a player. Both in the weight room, the film room and the locker room.

What we’ve seen out of Parsons in 3 games is great. But the next 14 games, we are going to see even more opportunities for growth and development. Why?
  • Opposing OCs are getting more film on him and will be game planning him in ways he hasn’t faced yet. That will be an opportunity for growth.
  • A 17 game NFL season is much more challenging on the body than a college schedule. Great players have to learn how pace themselves.
  • Parsons himself has said he is still learning some of the tricks, angles, hand positioning and many other nuances of being an effective defender.
  • At some point he will be humbled by a bad game. Happens to every great player. That too will be part of his growth and development.
Micah Parsons is the most naturally gifted defensive player we’ve had since DeMarcus Ware who is headed to Canton soon. What makes the gifted players HOF material is not just their talent alone. It’s also their commitment to continue learning and growing as a player.

Can’t wait to see how Parsons responds to future challenges in his development.

I find myself having a look at forums for other teams (Washington / Giants / Eagles mainly) and it's brilliant reading their comments. I realise they are just fans like you and I but they are seriously worried / annoyed / scared in what we have in Parsons. Brings a smile to my face every comment I read!

He.......looks.........special.........really...........special.

I hear you acr731 but isn't this what sport is for? Allowing us to dream? Allowing us to get exciting like little children all over again?

You are right, of course you are but let's enjoy this.

I'm looking for DQ to move Micah around so he can't really be game planned against, and it already looks to be DQ's thinking.

#11 still needs to develop at MLB to help stop the run and impact the passing game in coverage. I know we fall in love with pass rush, but Micah is a weapon that can neutralize an offenses strength. For instance, if Dallas play BAL how would you deploy Parsons?

Stay the course and continue the development of a type of player DAL hasn't seen in a while... don't just throw him at DE and call it a day.

He’s a game wrecker. Some of the best natural pass rushing I’ve seen.

He barely knows what he’s doing and he’s already a game wrecker.
And this is what is most thrilling to me. His development is just starting. I fully expect to see him struggle occasionally in the near future as OCs have more tape on him and game plan him. But what will be even better will be watching him adjust and improve from that.

Great NFL players can’t be great on talent alone. College players can. NFL players cannot. It’s takes a bigger commitment and I think Parsons has that.

some maybe true but really a pass rushing defense end must be more impactful position on defense they make lie m7mil more a season for top paid at their positions.

so if something happens and Parsons becomes a top DE in this league and doesn't play LB anymore , i think we can live with that..as long as we found an elite impactful defender is all that should matter.. war daddy was needed and possibly found..;)

can Parsons be better then Ware?

His “struggles” are going to benefit others around him because OCs will just focus on getting him blocked.

Lane Johnson was struggling to block him and he’s one of the best Tackles in football.

The biggest thing Parsons has going against him is he is a rookie and he may be exhausted come December.

LVE also looked great his first season. We all know what happened after that.

Sure, Parson has looked tremendous, but I would much rather be cautiously optimistic. That shouldn't be taken as even the least bit negative.
If you're suggesting that this is his ceiling, what would support that?
