Micah Parsons named NFL's ninth-best player by CBS Sports
Story by MLenix84

The Dallas Cowboys have been one of the better teams in the NFL for the last three seasons, at least in the regular season anyway. A huge factor in this has been the defensive side of the ball as the Cowboys have led the league in turnovers twice and finished no lower than seventh in fewest points allowed.

That production has been spearheaded by one man, edge rusher Micah Parsons. Pete Prisco of CBS Sports certainly agrees with that. In fact, earlier this week, he named Parsons as the ninth-best player in the NFL.

The scary thought for the rest of the NFL is that Parsons just turned 25 years old, so he's just now hitting his prime as a player. With new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer on board in Dallas, Parsons could be gearing up for his best season in the league so far.

1 Patrick Mahomes KANSAS CITY CHIEFS QB
His numbers were down last season, but he showed in the playoffs that he is the best player in the league -- and on his way to being considered the best ever. If he three-peats this season, is it time to say he's the best ever? (Last season: No. 1)

2 Myles Garrett CLEVELAND BROWNS DE
He won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year after getting 14 sacks and adding 86 pressures. He is one of those special defensive players who has to be accounted for on every play. (Last season: No. 5)

3 Trent Williams SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS OT
At the age of 36, he remains the game's best left tackle. He is key to their run game, but he also excels in pass protection. The only concern is when does he start to show his age. (Last season: No. 10)

4 Tyreek Hill MIAMI DOLPHINS WR
His speed scares the daylights out of defensive backs and defensive coordinators. He changes the way teams play with his ability to run by people and turn short passes into big plays, catching 119 passes last season for the Dolphins. (Last season: No. 12)

5 T.J. Watt PITTSBURGH STEELERS OLB
He led the NFL in sacks with 19 last season and remains a true game-wrecker. He bounced back from an injury-shortened 2022 to show he remains one of the game's best edge players. (Last season: No. 11)

6 Josh Allen BUFFALO BILLS QB
He led the NFL in total yards and touchdowns (44) when combining his passing and rushing touchdowns, yet the perception was he didn't play well. Yes, he turns the ball over too much, but he was a legitimate MVP candidate last year and will be again this season. (Last season: No. 2)

7 Justin Jefferson MINNESOTA VIKINGS WR
Injuries limited him to nine starts last season, which is why he had a career-low 68 catches in his fourth season. But he averaged 107.4 receiving yards per game, which was a career best. (Last season: No. 7)

8 Christian McCaffrey SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS RB
He is the game's best back, a dual-threat player who can kill a defense with his ability to run it and catch it. He is the prototypical back for today's game -- and he gets paid like it. (Last season: No. 27)

9 Micah Parsons DALLAS COWBOYS LB
He has 40 1/2 sacks in three seasons, including 14 last season, to put him in the conversation as best rusher in the game. He also led the league in pressures with 103. He has moved around a lot in his three seasons with the Cowboys, but he is best when rushing the passer off the edge. (Last season: No. 8)

10 Nick Bosa SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS DE
His sack number fell from 18 1/2 in 2022 to 10 1/2 last season as he wasn't as dominant as he was the year before. He had just one double-digit sack game last season after having four in 2022. (Last season: No. 4)

I would have an easier time agreeing with this if it weren't for the fact that he disappears way too much. He might be dominant, but he's only that way 60% of the time. Was he even on the field against GB?

Just my opinion.

So - CBS's Pete Prisco's top-10 summary:
- 6 players on offense, 4 on defense
- 2 QBs, 2 WRs, 1 OT, 1 RB
- 2 DEs, 1 OLB, 1 Edge-DE-LB hybrid

The Mouth is better than our $60 mil QB?
Will The Mouth be paid as such? Of course not, but Gerald will have to pay up. Then there is CeeDee and his mom...
Mom needs a new car. It was embarrassing having to be seen cruising around town in the Bentley Continental GT, so it's time for an upgrade.

JA at 6? i dont think so.
Dang ...just about everybody luvs good ol' Josh!

Double-digit turnovers EVERY season since he entered the league 6 years ago (2018).
What's more - Allen has gotten worse in that category with each successive year.
From being 17th in QB turnovers his rookie season - he has regressed to being 16th, 8th, 5th, 1st, 2nd (only 1 less turnover from being tied with the most).
Allen has had the most turnovers among NFL quarterbacks over the last six seasons__ 2018 - 2023.

His performances against the Bills, Dolphins and Packers, just this past season, must not count......like some schools, perhaps they drop the lowest 3 tests before getting the final grade

Oy vey.
obviously they did or he’d be higher

Not only that, but he has just 1 sack and 8 tackles in three playoff games. Based on how our fans judge players, he's a bum.

(Parsons has 1 sack and 18 tackles. Watt does lead him in QB hits, though, 5 to 4 and did return a fumble for a TD in a 21-point loss.)

Or when given 17+ games to look at they look at all 17 + games versus going "we are only going to count the games you did not get a sack in because that is a good way to judge a player for reasons".
