I believe he could have meant it when he said it. I also believe any agent worth his salt is never going to let that happen for a top player without a fight. No agent is going to intentionally give ownership additional leverage in current or future negotiations. There is a reason agents are always looking to reset the top of the market and ownership is looking for cracks to lower.

I’m not discounting that you could be right. I’m just suggesting that it’s possible that he was sincere. But, if it’s true that Micah never meant it, it was an incredibly stupid thing to say publicly.

Personally, I think his agent talked some sense into him.

I dont care what the agent says. If I tell him hey, I want 35 million a year for 5 years and I want 120 million up front, PERIOD. Mr. Agent thats it, do not come back to me again until that deal is done.'I dont care who the agent is... that deal is getting done. Anything below Garett's 40 million per year is a win for Dallas.

Seems crystal clear to me. The best way to handle contract negotiations, whether it’s the player or management, is to just be quiet. It’s stupid to make public comments.

Easy to say when it's not your money. Every person should negotiate whatever way makes them feel good. If they don't, they always have, what ifs, in the back of their mind.

Frankly I don’t know what is going on behind closed doors. He may have popped off about taking less and never meant it. He may have said he wanted less and was convinced otherwise. Or he may have said what you suggested…I have no idea.

I also notice that you highlighted most of a sentence but left out the last 3 words. And IMO, any agent worth his salt is going to fight to ensure max value. If Micah was serious, he will get his way. If not, we will likely see a max value contract.

I was just suggesting that he could have been sincere. In case you haven’t noticed, I have an issue with people who make absolute comments when they have no way of knowing what is going on.

I think he was very ambiguous,

I don't think he met his agent,

I think he's happy with his agent, I think he's just stating he's seen other players get taken advantage by other agencies and not have their best interest.

I believe he believes in his and possibly promoting his agency?.... It's definitely not crystal clear..

I don't see where you see that I see it being very ambiguous to me he's not ripping his own agent he's just saying what he's noticed this is his perspective on how the off seasons are being handled by other agents...

That, or he convinced Micah that the team would be taking advantage of him much like Micah is talking about with other players now. That's the angle I would push too if I were an agent.

But what do you do when agents and media are putting out false information just looking for clicks?

Do you just allow the narrative to be set by people who have zero information and are just looking to drive traffic to their content?

It’s not just agents, it’s the media. Teams and players are just on the bench for all of this “information”.
