It's exhasting listening to these ex-players and sports talk show guys (Stephen A. Smith) talking about Micah going out to get "his" money! Micah's money is his current contract that will pay him 24 million this season and after that, the Cowboys can either offer him another contract or Franchise Tag him for two years if they chose, that's his money! The Cowboys are under NO obligation to do otherwise. So let's compare Max Crosby and Micah's stats. They both had shortened 2024 seasons due to injury which were relatively equal in stats so let's look at 2023 and 2022 when they both played 17 games. In 2022 Max had 89 combined tackles and 12.5 sacks. Micha, 65 had combined tackles and 13.5 sacks. In 2023, Max had 90 combined tackles and 14.5 sacks. Micah had 64 combined tackles and 14 sacks. In those 2 years, Max had FIFTY, (50) more tackles and Micah had .5 (1/2) of a sack more. To me, this shows a huge disparity in the activity and total defensive prowess between the 2 players and I don't care about where they were or weren't lined up every down. Max out hustles Micah period and that is why Max is paid 35 million per season!

Micah’s situation is putting the NFL in an awkward position. Micah’s production is comparatively significant. But his compensation was bargained for by others. It is peculiar in the United States of America that a person can elect to take on a job and by doing so is controlled by the employer for up to seven years. Micah Parsons is going into his fifth year at his job and has never negotiated for compensation as a professional football player. All things considered his situation is not exactly what would be called “the American way”.

Jerry Jones intends to take full advantage of what he can as an owner controlled by the (a) CBA. Micah Parsons is going to do the same. Both are either bad or both are good, but one isn’t bad and the other good. Take whatever side you please. But bet the house, the car, and the fondue set that in the next CBA players are not going to be controlled for the same numbers of years going forward.

This is only possible because of anti-trust protections granted the NFL by the Federal Government and labor laws regarding collective bargaining. Micah is picking at a scab the NFL owners would prefer not be picked. Unlike McLaurin and Hendrickson, Parsons is not under a contract he and his representation negotiated. Micah’s only recourse if he didn’t like his compensation was to choose another profession coming out of Penn State. If you think that’s fair, so be it. If he’d have said I’m not playing back then it would have been fine. Saying it now is just as fine. Because he had no say in his current deal.

Bottom line is both are great and both are currently under contract. Both GMs only comment should be the same. Those comments should be limited to saying they are under contract. Full stop.

We are not supposed to question the owner class. We are lucky they are here or we’d be wandering around on the Savanah. Lost.

A regular worker using what leverage he has to get the best deal he can get? He’s no owner. He’s a worker. Owners make the rules and we blindly follow.

Nice try comrade. Workers shut up and make this guy some more money. Your labor and unique talent doesn’t matter. Owners do.

You just answered my question he averages about 13-14 to me that's not top tier, that's a donte Fowler for you that as a backup pass rusher got these numbers. Asking for 40+ as a player that is over hyped is beyond me, so I agree maybe 24 is the right number, then if we keep him he'll get the AVERAGE of the top players with the tag, so that's 30+ million, that's 50 million in 2 seasons, we tag him again it's 80 I think that's enough sheesh

Keep in mind, it's the situation that Jerry created along with the NFL itself IMO.

I think we can all agree on this forum that Jerry always likes to push contract negotiations longer than they need to last.

I brought this up before, I remember when I thought the Eagles were nuts for making Hurts the highest paid QB in the league I think back in 2023 AFTER he lost the superbowl. Looking at what they did, they knew what they wanted to do, and did it. Look now, 2 years later, and Hurts doesn't even crack the top 5 paid QB's and is around the 10th highest paid in the league and the team just won the superbowl.

Everyone in the world knew (perhaps just the Jone's though) that the longer he pushes out contract negotiations with Parsons, the more it was going to cost him due to other defensive players reseting the pay scales for new contracts. That said, in Jerry's world, it's something he seems to relish and I don't really know why.

When you throw in Dak's new contract, the issue is you can't get into a insane mind's way of thinking...

I get the fact that Parsons is wanting a new contract, but the NFL has been allowing it for some time, and Jerry could have taken care of this last year and making parsons happy and getting a "deal" resigning him before anyone else, but as normal, Jerry drags his feet and is always making the news because of the way he draws out contracts time wise.

In Jerry's own words, the cowboys are a soap opera 365 days a year, and he wants it that way. I don't know about you guys, but if I was a NFL elite player, would I really want to play for a soap opera organization? I'd want to play for an organization that want's to win and make winning a priority. It's a no brainer to sign Parsons if you want to win. It is however head scratching you paid your QB what you paid him IMO though.

The CBA, from a player perspective is the issue. They have the weakest union in major sports and have a history of poor representation. Hopefully, they get their act together before next bargaining period.

I can't blame any player trying to make the most money possible. Micah knows he will wear down quick in this league and is trying to capitalize on guaranteed money while he can. It's not on the players to care about others money, it's on the team to make those decisions.

I personally would take Crosby over Parsons....straight up!

Crosby also has a history of alcoholism. Probably cost him money.

The CBA is a double edged sword. Crosby’s “rights” belonged to another team. The Raiders could have “played hardball” with him. They elected to come to terms with him.

Every team in the league would love to have Micah Parsons. Every team is not in a position to trade significant assets for him. Not every team that could is inclined to. Jerry is going to pay Micah…grudgingly.

But is he going to pay him under his current contract and two franchise tags or pay him the market rate? Or trade him?

Trading seems out because the likelihood is that you would not get the same kind of value you would get after the season. Right now teams are pretty much set and sal cap is an issue for a lot....and you know Jerry is not going to make that trade unless he gets full value.

Now...here's an interesting thread. While I am Micah's "side" regarding Jed's underhanded negotiating tactics...there IS A CASE for making Micah wait. We can't talk about it because negotiations are about positioning and leverage and unfortunately Jed has lost both in the PR arena.

But as regards on the field...there is a DAMNED GOOD CASE for letting Micah play out this year. The STUPID part is harping on the handshake. Here are my reasons:

- Micah is an oversized LBer,but an undersized DE.
- He's a liability against the run as a DE, but a liability against the pass as a LBer.
- He's strong for his size, but his main gift is SPEED. This will drop off - most likely - during his 2nd contract.
- Due to his diet regiment - you can see it all over his face and body that he eats for comfort not nutrition - he will drop off in his late 20s.
- His late game and late season production numbers are AWFUL. HE DISAPPEARS. Like barely on the stat sheet at times.

I could go on...but we can't get to these issues because Jed is an idiot.

Crosby is also on contract number 3 where he has signed extensions 3 years into a 4 year contract both times. This is why so many people beg the Cowboys to lock up more players early in their contracts.

Also we always talk about the player falling in line and honoring the contract, but in reality Parsons is honoring his contract. All he has to do is the minimum right now which is to show up. The Cowboys are doing the minimum for Parsons so he is giving the minimum back. Right or wrong it happens all the time in this world. Go talk to a customer service person who is paid minimum wage, then go talk to one for a company that pays them $20+ per hour. Often times it will be two very different experiences.
