So he’s basically doing the same thing he’s done since all of our DEs were hurt against the Chargers 2 seasons ago?

Gotcha..

The only thing that I hope changes is that they get him off the field for a few more plays every game. You just cannot have someone who plays that physical at 100% effort on the LOS play 900-1000 snaps + playoffs and expect them to not get dinged up and worn down by December. Keep Parsons in that 45-50 snaps per game range and keep him healthy. It's not like the Cowboys don't have the depth to do this.

I think it's an effort by Micah and agent to get the maximum contract based on position designation. I mean, just in case anybody wanted to play dumb come negotiating time.

The NFL is kinda already calling both DEs and outside linebackers who primarily rush the passer just Edge Rushers and paying them near the same, so I don't think it will be an issue.

But just in case, I think the distinction between the normal linebacker pay and defensive end pay is what Micah and his agent are going after. Just letting everyone know he's on the TJ Watt linebacker/DE tier of pay scale.

He has to stop chasing numbers then. He was going out in the 4th quarter of games already in hand to pad stats.

I continue to think that will be a big mistake – a wear and tear toll down mistake to be converting Parsons to full time DE
A 255 lber vs 350 lber OT’s on every down basis.

This includes vs run ..as well as rushing the passer.
Dunno how much of DE vs LB will get into contract negots, but TJ Watt is a LB, and he is still among the very highest paid defensive players in the NFL.

Even T J Watts operating in a 3-4 scheme does not do that. Primarily a 3-4 OLB does go against TEs on run downs – while peeling off vs those 340 lb OTs generally on
3rd down and obvious pass situations, hurry up offenses, 2 minute warning, etc.

Agreed, but I put that on the coaches more than I do the player. I'll never fault a player for wanting to be in the game, I want guys that want to be in there.

You're right though as you look back at the Chicago, Indy, and even Minnesota games he should have seen the bench more than he did. Didn't he go into the Chicago game with a groin pull?

Not much is changing. He lined up at DE 80% of snaps last year. Maybe it increases another 5%

More important to me how any added weight changes his mobility and quickness along with possible injuries. That worries me the most if he goes outside what his frame is used to carrying. Time will tell.

He had 1.5 sacks the final 6 games. He is not big enough to battle LTs all game, and its silly to put him there unless the goal is to wear him down.
We switched up to using less stunts and playing more straight up to not be out of position against the run. Our pass rush as a whole suffered. Plus, he was banged up.

That's one of the reasons I like the Mazi signing. Two large strong men like him and Hankins being out there on early downs means that the rest of the front seven will be more free to use movement.
