Good news. I don't mind him putting on weight (I'd just be careful not to effect the speed/acceleration) but I just don't want to change the kind of player he is.
He had 1.5 sacks the final 6 games. He is not big enough to battle LTs all game, and its silly to put him there unless the goal is to wear him down.
People need to chill…he won’t be a full time anything. The hand wringing on this site is comical. He is not trying to be a NT. He is just adding a few pounds on a frame that can easily handle it.
As long as he is doing this under supervision and not through a Big Mac diet, he’ll be fine. When you find yourself on the ledge looking over, just ask yourself WWMND.
That didn’t age well.Do you read or just make things up as you go?
The tweet LITERALLY says he is bulking up to be a full time DE.
Nothing going to change very much other than he may not drop in coverage as muchall the hub bub about Micah being a De is just that. Nothing will be any different. His role will remain the same.
He is trying to put on 10 pounds of muscle in off season. If he can keep his speed then it will help but not sure if it’s enough to be DE most of the time. He was worn out and dinged up half way through the season. He needs to be moved around to MLB behind Mazi. And he needs to come off the field some and get a breather. He had 1.5 sacks the final 6 games. Believe Demarcus Ware once said he would bulk up to 265 in preparation for the season and would be around 245 by seasons end. Can’t see how adding 10lb of muscle would create any appreciable change in mobility!More important to me how any added weight changes his mobility and quickness along with possible injuries. That worries me the most if he goes outside what his frame is used to carrying. Time will tell.

Said his target is 255, he was 245… Lawrence was 251 at the combine and 265 within 2 seasons. Gregory was 238 and went to 258. This is nothing unusual, whatever minimal speed lost will more than be made up for with added strength!Hope you’re right.

I'm not sure added muscle is going to make him more able to push through a 320 lb left tackle. His best asset is his speed. His goal should be to play the game like Von Miller who played his entire career under 250 lbs. Adding muscle is a risk not just in terms of diminishing his speed but also putting more stress on his knees and all the soft tissue in the lower body. If the goal here is to make him into a DE, I think he's not a going to be as effective. He needs to be a LB who lines up all over the DL.He is trying to put on 10 pounds of muscle in off season. TJ Watt is LB...I think it's an effort by Micah and agent to get the maximum contract based on position designation. I mean, just in case anybody wanted to play dumb come negotiating time.
The NFL is kinda already calling both DEs and outside linebackers who primarily rush the passer just Edge Rushers and paying them near the same, so I don't think it will be an issue.
But just in case, I think the distinction between the normal linebacker pay and defensive end pay is what Micah and his agent are going after. Just letting everyone know he's on the TJ Watt linebacker/DE tier of pay scale.

It was obvious from watching the games that he was primarily DE in 2022.Some of you apparently don't understand how to read.
Archer's tweet is showing that in the last regular 8 games he only lined up at LB a total of 19 times. In other words, he wasn't be moved around and being played predominantly at EDGE/DE.
You mean pretty much like his rookie season. He was very impressive. But I also realize teams now have film on him and can scheme to beat him. That’s why having other talent is a need. You can scheme for one but having 2 or 3 that can get home or pressure consistently is something you don’t beat. Hoping Mazi can be instant impact player at his position. And others step up. We know what we get from players like LVE.I'm not sure added muscle is going to make him more able to push through a 320 lb left tackle. His best asset is his speed. He is not as effective at DE. 1.5 sacks the final 6 games filling in on the edge instead of moving around the DL. I think lining him up and crashing him into a LT all day is taking away what makes him special and neutralizing him for the other team. You mean pretty much like his rookie season. You're not going to hide him lol. They'll still move him around into the A-gap and things in blitz packages, but it's not like an offense is going to lose him. He's so versatile that keeping him at one position seems like a waste. DQ should do everything he can to hide 11
Totally agree. Move him around and let him come behind Mazi.He is not as effective at DE. 1.5 sacks the final 6 games filling in on the edge instead of moving around the DL.
