Micah's Podcast

I know it's an easy distraction to point to when we lose, but I genuinely don't understand the frustration people have with Micah having a podcast. The Kelce brothers had one weekly when both were playing, and both brothers were considered the best at their position in the league. If I remember correctly half the team and coaches had a radio show when we were actually winning in the 90's. What's the big deal? I know in today's social media age it creates a higher likelihood that something he says can get spun and become a distraction, but if he has free time and wants to use it that way, then who cares?

Seems like the macho, tough guy attitude with some is that every player should be focused on nothing but football 24/7 until we win a Super Bowl. To me, that is neither realistic, nor healthy. I operate at a pretty high capacity in my career, and part of what enables me to do my job at a high level is a healthy work/life balance. When I'm at work I am focused and (usually) am at the top of my game, but that is due in large part to being able to relax and decompress at the end of the day. If I were working 80 hours a week and focusing on nothing but my job my lack of happiness and rest would certainly impact my work product negatively. The same must be true for anyone, particularly athletes. Seems like all of the replies to anything he says are just tough guy remarks about the podcast, and I just don't think it's a big deal.

I don't care about his podcast. He does it on his downtime and can't imagine it has anymore effect on his game on Sunday then if he was using the time to mow his lawn or take a trip to the store. However, when you lose, the magnifying glass will come out and he needs to be prepared for that.

Nobody cares about the podcast after a hard fought playoff battle, win or lose. If you are too tired to even show up for a playoff game you can shove your podcast up your ***.

It doesn’t really bother me either but the Kelce brothers are quite a bit older, a different generation. They might have an entirely different work ethic that prioritized football first, SM second. I’m not saying Micah is SM first or anything but it is something to consider. Of course, wins overcome that and losses magnify it.

I’ll add. My son is 8. He already asks me to video some of his Bey Blade battles with his friends to upload to Facebook.

It’s just normal routine stuff nowadays

The Kelce brothers have had more successful teams than the Cowboys. It’s easier for fans to put up with it when their teams have had success. Not sure who I’m more sick of the Kelce brothers or the Manning brothers. Jason Kelce is popping up everywhere. He’s just hoping Travis continues dating Taylor Swift to keep them relevant and popular.

It may come down to a differentiating perception of 'the best at their position in the league' along with doing podcasts. As an offensive lineman, Jason Kelce was judged negatively whenever his quarterback was pressured up the middle on passing downs. That rarely happened.

Travis Kelce has been judged negatively whenever he was dropping passes and not getting open. That has rarely happened. Usually, Travis Kelce 'disappears' at times when Patrick Mahomes is not targeting him.

Micah Parsons has been judged negatively because it seems as if: a) offensive coordinators can scheme him out of being a threat; b) his defensive coordinators cannot routinely scheme him as a threat; and/or c) he visually looks disinterested during games.

So, the brothers doing a podcast does not seem like it would be detrimental to how they perform on Sundays. By comparison, observers are left wondering if Parsons' devoting time for podcasts might be some type of hinderance to how well he performs on gameday.

This forum has more than it's share of guys who still live in the Stone age. And I am no spring chicken myself.

I have no issue with Micah having a podcast, I have an issue with how bad his podcast is and how tone deaf he can be with the media in general. Could get better as he gets older and matures a bit.

I mean, like I said in my initial post, it's just an obvious easy thing for angry fans to point to after a loss because we're always looking for anything and anyone to blame (and sometimes rightfully so). But even the replies in this thread are exactly what I'm talking about. People act like he should only have a right to do a podcast if the TEAM wins a Super Bowl. That's just ridiculous. We know plenty of players have hobbies like fishing, gaming, etc., Parsons just has a hobby that happens to interact with people. The idea that these athletes owe their entire lives to fans until they win a championship is just idiotic. In general, the macho tough guy talk from anonymous keyboard warriors about half of our roster is just hilarious. The amount of effort and commitment it takes to be a professional athlete, especially a multi-year starter and pro-bowler like Dak, Ceedee, Micah, Zack, Tank, etc., and while criticism is often absolutely warranted, questioning their commitment, work ethic, and character because they have personal lifes and hobbies just makes people look like fools.

Understood. I could be wrong but I believe a different player or players doing podcasts could be better used in comparing Micah Parsons' non-football activity.

True, but some things are timeless......we can actually not throw everything out the window in the name of "progress "

IE....a man cannot give birth to a child. Pretty basic right there.....although some here have pms every so often, lol

Jordan Love absolutely embarrassed him, and the entire defense. Then, he had him on the podcast a week later. That's a terrible look.
