Michael Gallup isn't trying to 'replace' Dez Bryant, yet

"Dez is a great player," Gallup said, via Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News. "It's hard for a rookie to come in and just replace all of the stuff that he's done here. We're out here trying to practice to be like him, obviously. But I'm not coming in here just to replace him. That's not my role yet."

The operative word here, of course, being "yet".

Given his attacking demeanor, it shouldn't be long before he's coronated as the Cowboys' No. 1 wideout, even if it does take him a while to earn the stripes Bryant did.

“If you’re not aggressive, you’re going to get beat up," said Gallup just ahead of rookie minicamp. "I’m going to go up there and get it. I’m going to high point it. I like to catch with my hands. I don’t like body catches. I’m definitely a strong-willed wide receiver.”

I hope so. I know Gallup has his own expectation of himself and if he can live up to those expectations everything else will take care of itself.

I have read several times that his route running is one of his strengths. Much the same has been said of Hurns.

That's not gonna happen unless Dallas completely reconstructs their offensive schemes, man. The run game is the #1, #2, and #3 priority here. Gallup would be lucky to ever have even 10 TD or 1000 yards in any one season

That's not gonna happen unless Dallas completely reconstructs their offensive schemes, man. The run game is the #1, #2, and #3 priority here. Gallup would be lucky to ever have even 10 TD or 1000 yards in any one season

I'd take a young Gallup and 10-12 possible years of oppotunity over anything your talking. You and I both know that there is a chance that dallas isn't going to be as run heavy for as long as you are assuming.

The oline would have to continue to stay together which is impossible in this day and age, zeke would have to avoid injurys, and alot of other factors also.

Better find a new QB if we're gonna be anything other than a run-dominant team. I'm good with any time of offense, as long as it produces winning.

I fully expect to see Dallas run and throw to be a balanced attack, I guess I don't have the same negative views of Dak. I agree there are things he must work on but I think he will make corrections. this kid is a winner who can help lead this team.

If he can be reliable early, he has the chance to make significant contributions as a rookie.
