He definitely should have caught that pass for a TD. Dak made a perfect throw. But after watching the play again, the DB definitely grabbed his jersey and it definitely slowed Gallup down just a hair. But I also think Gallup was distracted by the grab which is why he didn't catch the ball.
Oddly, the refs did not call a penalty on the Chargers there, but they called one later in the game on Gilmore that set up the Chargers 2nd TD. Then after that Pollard beat the Chargers LB for what should have been another TD, and again, the defender grabbed Pollard's arm to slow him down. No flag was thrown. The refs should have called illegal contact on that play because it was way past 5 yards and the defender was clearly trying to obstruct Pollard's route.
This is why these rules drive me nuts every week and in every game. There is no consistency to any of these penalties.
Anyway, I think dumping on players after one bad game is kind of silly. two weeks ago Gallup had 5 catches on 6 targets and helped us beat the Patriots.
And by the way, Pollard did not drop that that interception against the 49ers. The ball hit the defenders arm. Pollard never got a hand on it. That is a pass defensed, not a drop.
The refs were quite awful. I mean, really awful.
