Jane Slater is the only one covering Dallas that has a set. Everyone else pillow talks Jerry and Stephen to keep access.

Who in their right mind moves from Texas to Washington DC?

Yeah, that's a great place to raise a family.
There are some fantastic areas of DC and in the surrounding suburbs. There’s also bad areas.

Just like anywhere else.

Something tells me Gelhken isn’t moving to one of the bad areas.

The fierce rumbling that you hear are the many sports hacks that are trampling over one another to claim his spot.. :muttley:

Very true.................however, the cost of living (especially housing) in the DC area is vastly higher than it is in Texas.

A buddy of mine from UT moved to DC after graduation to work for a think-tank that does lobbying and he literally paid double for his house compared to what I paid for mine here in Austin and the square footage was like only 50 different.

So yeah, Gehlken better have some coin in the bank moving to DC.

Washington DC is literally the last place in the country I would move to. They make California and New York look like utopia.

Best beat guy gone. This offseason man...

Being from the BWI area, he is experiencing a downturn in his quality of life. Washington, D.C., Northern VA, is seriously overcrowded with terrible traffic and road conditions. There is no way I would go from Texas to Washington, D.C. It's not the best place to raise kids, either. But he goes to what he thinks is right. He will be out of there in 2 years.

That hit me hard. Real hard.

What will i do without that guy on ascoial media?
Look for sound information without any kind of emotional hype that is researched in detail like a journalist should do ?

Well, he is no journalist. Just a "writer": like you and me and everybody else who is able to write. So i give him that.

Media doesn't generally pay for crap.
It sucks but it is what it is.
Like being a vet tech assistant, it is something people do for love.

The few who get paid aren't in reporting but in infotainment.

Sure. But 20 minutes away are some of the most glorious spots.

Bethesda, Arlington, McLean, Chevy Chase are outstanding areas.
