With Michael Irvin being in the news for the first time in a while, and not for doing something stupid, Jerry should bring the Playmaker back into the Cowboys to coach the Wrs. Irvin's passion and work ethic are some of the things the receivers on the roster lack. Along with running precise routes. He can make a difference and keep them in check. Think he could be an excellent teacher.

I agree whole heartedly, he would not only bring fire back to the position but will also bring leadership back into the locker room which is sorely needed, good idea fanboy!

I disagree, Irvin does not have the proper temperament to be a good coach. While he might be good at motivating the guys that does not make him a good teacher.

When did Irvin say he wanted to coach? I don't doubt that Irvin has a lot of knowledge to pass along but becoming a coach requires a lot of long hours and sleepless nights which is one reason many ex-players do not want to take on the job of a coach because they have seen 1st hand what it requires

First of all, why would Michael want to be a WR coach now. I'm sure he likes being on the radio and getting attention. His show is doing well. Also, when he goes to VR or training camp, he gives the WR's and CB's some advice...

I don't think I would want him as a coach and I don't believe he wants that either....

All that being said, IF I were the owner, I'd give him some kind of incentive to be a little more of a presence around my WRs and maybe the locker room.

On a side note,, I believe Romo would be well served spending some time around Troy and Roger.

Not that I have ever heard. I could be wrong but I think he likes being in front of the mic and or camera too much to get into coaching.

Those that CAN'T do, teach.

Irvin CAN so he won't.

This team needs Chuck Norris to coach. This is what happens to whiny Wide-outs on Chuck's watch!

I dunno.. Would probably end up being more like the "mice" suddenly not having to wait for the "cats" to be away in order to play.

Of course though, we can't predict how he would be as a coach. He was always a player who believed the partying (crack, drugs, ******) had to stop once the playing began. He could take a similar stance on coaching. I'm just not sure, just like with former players we had whom he was around, if they could also ever stop the "partying" when it was time to get down to business like them before who couldn't.

How interesting for TO would that be though, being coached by one of his heros.

But what's next; Bring in Dieon to coach the secondary? Emmitt for the RBs? Better yet, screw them all, and just bring in the one that matters, Troy for Tony. Someone has to teach that kid a "winning mentality".

What's it going to be then, eh?

Charles Haley was a great player who had passion and I would not bring him in to coach the DL. Irvin as a player was the same way but it is difficult to say he'd be a great coach. I think even he has admitted he would not have the patience and is more of a lead by example type than a teacher, which is really what the position calls for.

I would probably have his Hall of Fame speech playing on a loop in the locker room however.
