Irvin might luck out and get his job back . The NFL holds the power here.

If they want this to go away they can try to make that happen .

This is not a surprise and I think his lawyer knew he was fighting uphill against what Irvin said in the radio call in.

The Marriott sure got specific about what they allege he said, complete with witnesses and descriptions that would be evident on the video. The video the lawyer has said he will release to the public. I doubt that video sees the light of day again.

At no time in all of this did Irvin or his lawyer address what Irvin did or did not say in that encounter. It was treated as if that wasn't what this was all about.

One of the, and there are many, things we do not know is the role of the NFL in all of this. Have they counseled him that as long as this lawsuit against one of their sponsors continues, he stays in TV limbo.

From the very beginning, the one question that was out there was how is he going to defend himself after what he said in the call in? That, was a huge mistake

What we can watch for now is to see if a new suit is filed and if the NFL is part of that because their involvement in this was far beyond what was first reported. They may have struck a deal with him to get him back on the air and make all of this go away.

If a new suit isn't filed, there's your answer about what he said to the woman. Now whether one feels the punishment fits the crime, that's another issue. But who brought this story to the attention of the public?
I’d imagine if the complaint and video were enough for the hotel and NFL to take action there was enough evidence there .

Irvin was just trying to save face . NFL can make this all go away.

Irvin: "I want $100M"
Marriott: "How about we waive the $500 mini-bar room charge and you agree to never come back again"
Irvin: watches video "I'll take it"

I wonder if the NFL made some deal with Irvin over this. Unless Michael really is guilty.
Most likely there was enough evidence for hotel to adhere their policies and NFL to hit the pause button on Irvin.

Guilty is a complex description in a case like this. Was his behavior inappropriate to this employee? Probably…

Will the NFL reinstate him on the network is the bigger question. If they do it will be on a very tight string .

As long as the public doesn’t see the complaint or video it could be swept under the rug.

If he doesn't refile the suit, he is guilty in the court of public opinion but that does not mean he can't get back on the air.
Right

The NFL can make this go away. As long as the public doesn’t see the video if it’s damaging nor see or hear the complaint , could see Irvin back on the air . Of course on a very tight rope.

He will be working for the Cowboys soon ..... I doubt any real network will touch him for a while
That’s where he’s most likely to end up if NFL doesn’t reinstate him. He already does some work for Silver Star Network in preseason games .

There’s also two weekly programs every Sunday morning locally during the season he could be another ex Cowboy joining Nate Newton , Church and others .

When I heard what the woman said he said, I immediately remembered Irvin talking about the way Romo played basketball and surmised that Romo's great great grandmother must have "taken one of the male slaves behind the barn for some one on one time"

That's how Irvin thinks

Something tells me this isn't how the story ends.

I still want to see the video.
Lol, for what?

It’s never been about what he did physically, it’s about what he supposedly said that’s the issue.

Folks have totally bought into Irvin’s legal team’s legal posturing about the video, hook, line, and sinker. They know the video will show nothing because the physical interaction was never the problem.

it could be he saw the video and knew he couldnt win, so why continue to waste more $ on legal fees?
If it didnt, irvin should get his espn and nfl network jobs back.
so lets see if that happens or not.
He didn’t lose those jobs. They just didn’t feature him during the superbowl.

Wasn't the lawsuit to get them to release the tape?
Tape is in his possession, so why proceed?

Am I way off on the above?

PS, I don't care if he's kicked off the NFLN for good

Right it's odd that people come here to
Classic and a completely expected development. It will be interesting to see how all of the little Playmakers spin this into a positive for Irvin's side of the issue...
lol "little playmakers"

Yall are odd. There are more people wanting him guilty than people not.

Like you're praying he is.

Honestly I don't care one way or another because it doesn't involve me and all the information isn't out yet.

But seriously, aren't you a grown man?

If you settle a lawsuit, then it will be dismissed. Dismissing a lawsuit without knowing the reason why might confuse some people.
