Michael Trigg All-22 breakdown

I just want him to be a decent TE in the passing game, and not be an atrocious blocker.

I’ve heard too much about TEs that are “impossible” to cover like Pitts. That doesn’t exist in the NFL.

Would be nice to have a solid player, but he is likely a bit far away from being someone to trust, although he looked good on his first showing. Build on it Mike. Rooting for ya.

Do you guys think he will be on the 53? Or is he practice squad bound?

I think he makes the 53 simply because you'd be more likely to lose him trying to stash on the PS. There just aren't a lot of guys with his skillset.

I want to see him catch , an over the middle bullet from Prescott, you know the ones that shoemaker keeps dropping
If he can make those catches, I’m sold

There was one play where Milton was under pressure where he tried to hit the RB underneath while rolling out to his right. Had he picked up his eyes he would have had Trigg for a much bigger (and easier/open) play down the field.
I thought Milton played extremely well, compared to how I seen him before
He actually put some touch on the football, not just bullets
But he went back to himself when he was flushed out of the pocket, he seemed like he was rushing things, but that’s experience, he needs to slow down
But I think he’s improved greatly over last season

I do remember seeing that play and thinking he was wide-open also

He has one job and one job only.

Can he block, and will he know the blocking assignments?

There will be no role for him in the passing game on this team, nor should there be. Ferguson and Spann-Ford have that locked down for the tight ends, and most everything else will be going to Lamb, Pickens, Flournoy, and the backs.

I’m not sure about that, he seems to have some good hands, and he doesn’t panic,
It could be a good role player

As long as we have Lamb and Pickens, you are not going to get much production from the #2TE or frankly the other WRs.
They will need to contribute, obviously, but there is simply not going to be that much.
Ferguson is clearly the relief valve and Dak trusts him like Romo trusted Witten.
so numbers is not going to be there. Whether who ever else we have can make catches that matter does
as regards that Trigg has a shot of course
blocking might be where he either makes it or does not

No way Schoonmaker should make the team over Trigg. But I bet he does just because Schoonmaker knows the playbook and MIGHT can block a little better (which i believe Schoon sucks at too). Schoon offers nothing in the pass and run game. Give me Trigg. A TE with potential vs a jag like Schoon.

It's one game, and a preseason game at that, but I really like what I see from him as a blocker. Blocking is critical for a TE and it's something that the Cowboys have been lacking in recent years - good blocking from WR and TEs.

If Trigg can block, then Schoonmaker will lose his spot on the offense.

Yeah that seam route is pleasing. I’ll never forget the one from Beuerlein to Novacek in Philly in 91. Called when protecting a lead and not expected. Perfect play.
