I'm not so sure Young is all that mad about being moved to DH, what he is mad about is they said that he was going to be their permanant DH and be an everyday player just not in the field. After they sign Beltre they still pursued Thome, Vlad, Manny Ramiriz and got Napoli (I don't think he was brought in to DH, but this might be Young's thinking). It was like "yeah Mike you are are our man (unless we can get thome or vlad back)!" And they were also floating him around in trades. I just don't agree with management right now.

Do you mean Webb? Yeah I have no ill-feelings toward that move. But again like the rest of the pitchers on this staff, he is another shot in the dark. Which I hope pays off

Thome was being sought as a lefthanded bat off the bench, not as a regular DH, and I don't recall there being any serious attempt to get Manny or Vlad. Whatever interest they showed in Vlad was already past by the time they signed Beltre.

That said, i do believe there was some miscommunication, and while I think it's still clear that he would be the primary DH, you have to look at Napoli and realize he doesn't really have a defensive position either, and ask yourself where his AB's are going to come from. I think the plan was for Young to play some 1B, but Napoli could cut into him there.

ESPN said this morning they believe that with Young's salary and his no trade clause limiting them to 8 teams to talk to that i't unlikely the Rangers can trade him. They also said they believe the Rangers will look at the fact that he has been a consistent hitter at around 200 hits,, .300 average and 90-100 RBI's and that he brings leadership to the lockerroom and they will find a way to keep him.

I'm hoping Mike will come around. I don't want to lose him from this team.

I really think the team chemistry has something to do with the success last year, and obviously being the professinal that he is and being the logtime veteran face of the team, Young was a big part of that chemistry. Beltre can easily replace Young on the field, but no way can he replace him in the dugout and lockerroom. I have to believe losing Young woulod be a bit of a blow.

I completely agree. And if they could get him to play DH and super utility I would like every player in our line-up. Because chances are someone in the infield will get hurt and Mike can easily step in and fill that roll.

This team has been built on chemestry and leadership, thats what helped them win last year, thats what I believe.

Without a doubt (or there is very little doubt) over the course of the year there will be some significant playing time for Young in the IF. If Young had been in the same situation last year he would have played maybe 50 games are 2B, and quite a few at 1B.

I wish I knew what the basis was for Young saying he was mislead. The only obvious change since he agreed to make the move to full time DH / utility infielder is the addition of Napoli. I wonder if the team promised Napoli AB's at 1B and DH and Young viewed that as cutting into the playing time the team promised him?

Yeah, I'm really not sure. Maybe it was that he thought they were still optioning him in trades? It was a drastic change in his feelings toward DHing though, I'm not sure what went down.

I'd hate to see him go but I wouldn't lose a whole lot of sleep over it.

Players come and go. It's the name of the game.

Players do come and go, but some are a little different, and after being with a team a number of year they become the face and identity of the team, kind of the embodiment of the team, and you don't expect to see them in another uniform. Biggio, Jeter, Ichiro, Pujols, Mauer. Michale Young is the Rangers version of those guys.

Wow he makes a bad play and you are harping on it like it is inidicative of who he is as a player. He also won a gold glove at second and short.

It is indicative of his play.

Gold Gloves are a joke. DEREK FREAKIN JETER wins gold gloves.

Michael Young has never been a good defensive player. Never.

His career UZR per 150 games is something like -10 at short, and -7.5 at 3rd. That's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay below average.
