Several Michigan State football players may have been involved in an assault in a campus dormitory, the State News, the student newspaper at MSU, is reporting on its Web site.
The State News article indicates "a multiple-person assault that happened at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the Rather Hall lounge."
The story also says a group of 15 to 20 men, some described as MSU football players, injured about seven students.
MSU spokesman Terry Denbow said this afternoon that no one had been charged in connection with the incident, and he would not confirm nor deny that those involved were football players.
"We don't identify people by group," Denbow said.
Denbow said he had talked to MSU police minutes earlier and officers were continuing their investigation.
"They're talking to a lot of people," Denbow said. "There were about 60-plus people there during the altercation."
MSU associate athletics director John Lewandowski referred all questions about the incident to Denbow.
