Some good straight forward stuff from Mickey.
Mentions Micah saying he will get on the field once his stiff back loosens up.

He talks about leadership. About Mitch and Dak.

"But leadership to me is earned, not self-proclaimed. Leadership to me is not standing in front of the room preaching or pounding on a podium to get everyone's attention, and everyone is not built to be a leader, so to speak."

Also an interesting tidbit about the guy that held Stephen with the contacts. And Micah's comment about it. That he knows who he is, and how it all works.

Not the typical Mickey stuff that some do not like, just some good TC info and other tidbits.

"There are going to be those events that happen during a game that, if you throw a punch, you're getting kicked out of the game," he said. "And, along with that, you're getting fined about $45,000. So, do we have the discipline to, when those things happen, to not throw a punch and to go and grab your own guy, your brother, and pull him out of the fray so he doesn't do anything messed up. I love the way they're practicing, but I've warned them before. And I made it very clear.

"We're not throwing punches. If you throw a punch, there's going to be a consequence, just like in a game. … I love that competitive nature. It just can't get into where we're throwing punches."

( coughing loudly) Hear me linemen?

Right now, I see 6 wins. I'll adjust as we move along.

The buzz around running back Deuce Vaughn is building in Oxnard as the Dallas Cowboys continue their 2025 training camp.

Despite his small frame at just 5’6”, Vaughn is earning more reps and attention from coaches, the media, and fans alike.

With an unsettled backfield and a wide-open opportunity to carve out a unique role, Vaughn is once again drawing comparisons to former NFL star Darren Sproles—and the similarities go far beyond their height.

A Running Back Wrote Off Making a Statement in 2025

More Reps, More Opportunities

While the Cowboys haven’t publicly detailed exactly how they plan to deploy Vaughn in the offense, one thing is clear: he’s getting more work in team drills and earning increased opportunities to showcase his abilities.

TraitDeuce VaughnDarren Sproles
Lateral QuicknessSharp, Instant CutsLegendary Quickness
HandsSoft, Natural CatcherOne of the best pass-catching backs ever
VisionPatient with elite field awarenessKnown for reading blocking schemes
ToughnessWilling to fight for extra yardsPlayed 14 seasons at a high level
VersatilityCan play slot or backfieldKey weapon in every phase
Like Sproles, Vaughn brings a low center of gravity that makes him incredibly difficult to tackle in space. He’s also a threat to contribute in the return game, adding even more value to his potential roster spot.

The first week of training camp is always a difficult one to assess. The players are in shells, contact is limited and inferences must be made. Sometimes these determinations prove correct, other times they are nothing but Fool’s Gold. In the case of second year linebacker Marist Liufau, it looks like the real deal.

Liufau has been a regular name on the daily “standouts” list in training camp this year. The 24-year-old sophomore has hit the ground running and appears to be attacking each play at a different speed than anyone else.

His rookie season saw flashes of brilliance such as this. The former Notre Dame star lived up to the draft reports that he played with his hair on fire, running harder and faster than others and generally operating at a different speed. While he might have outperformed his athletic profile in his rookie season, he fell short in the mental portion. Liufau didn’t always execute his run fits correctly and at times he misdiagnosed plays. Thus far in camp, it appears he’s cleaned up all of those mental hiccups and now stands to become a difference maker at LB in 2025.

Cowboys LB Marist Liufau has bulked up this offseason. Has added a lot of muscle to his frame, very noticeable.

The Dallas Cowboys need Tyler Guyton to be better in 2025. After a stinker of a rookie season that saw Guyton essentially benched, the Cowboys went all-in with their 24-year-old left tackle over the offseason. They resisted the urge to bring in a quality free agent and they even parted ways with last season’s veteran replacement Chuma Edoga. For better or for worse, it's Guyton-or-bust for 2025.

As one can imagine, there was a sigh of relief when Guyton took the field focused and fit for training camp. After working with Tyron Smith a portion of the offseason, Guyton seems like a new man in his second season.

Onlookers have noticed a fitter specimen with better bend and technique to his game. At 6-foot-7, 322-pounds, bend is an essential component in order to maintain balance and positioning. While Micah Parsons may not be on the field squaring off against the former Sooner, plenty of quality pass rushers have been putting him to the test. And so far, so good.

With the struggles at right tackle with Terence Steele, the Cowboys can ill afford to have two pass protection liabilities bookending their offensive line. One struggling OT can be helped with double teams and chip work, but two struggling OTs is almost impossible to overcome. Guyton’s progression isn’t just a bright part of camp, it’s a season-saving necessity that the Cowboys bet big on.
