"Good gosh, the Cowboys have lost eight of their last nine games, and if the Washington Commanders (4-6) should beat the New York Giants (5-5) on Sunday, and with the Eagles (4-7) getting creamed earlier on Thanksgiving, the Cowboys would only be two games out of first place and one out of second.

Therein lies the hope, the true fairytale to this whole preposterous season where commonsense says no way, but the competitor in us all would say what if, at least until you mathematically run out of ifs."

As my now deceased (because he's older then me and I'm old) grandfather used to say. "Even a blind squirrel can find an acorn once and a while."

I do wish Mickey (who is truly a smart guy) would take off the blinders and and say if he was the King at Valley Ranch this is what he would do. I think that would elevate him in many folks minds.

PS. I live outside D.C. and the Commanders fans are talking superbowl here. BTW, the Commanders know all about being mathematically eliminated. They have been playing that hole card for many many years. Three winning seasons since 1999.

Who cares at this point. Whichever team that limps into the playoffs from the East is going to get annihilated in the first round anyway.

As a Cowboys fan, would you guys rather somehow make a miraculous playoff appearance and get blown out in the first round or prefer us playing for a top 5 pick?

Wish there was a monster defensive player or a franchise quarterback available in the draft for us. I truly believe we will be drafting in the top ten.

It's possible if we won against the Panthers and Romo is still up. But if the Skins still win and we are 2 games back I don't see us winning any games. So for Mickey to come out with that is very delusional. We seen Cassel and their isn't much to see.

Mickey is just trying to keep fans engaged because when people stop reading his articles or stop watching talkin cowboys show....the station losses advertising dollars.

Well I hope we do.

It is silly for some fans to think the team is better off losing out to get a better pick. I am sure Panthers fans wishes there team hung it up. Panthers were 3-8-1 last season, I am sure their fans wished they just lost out to get a better pick. Instead, they won their last 4 and that momentum carried on to the next season. You are silly if you think it's good for the La'el Collins, Byron Jones or Randy Gregory to develop the mindset that losing is acceptable at any point

This team isn't going to win their next 5 games. A win here and there is going to do nothing. Plus Carolina still had a shot at the division. We do not anymore without our QB.

And I am sure those Panthers fans said the same thing when they lost 6 straight, most of which were by multiple scores.

A win here or there develops confidence for our younger players.

Comparing this year's Cowboys to last year's Panthers is like apples and oranges. Unless Cam Newton was hurt the entire 4 games of last year, there is no comparison. Expecting this year's Cowboys to win the last games without their starting QB is not realistic, especially when given the fact that Weeden and Cassel haven't been able to win "winnable" games thus far.

The team will compete and the adversity will likely make them stronger, not weaker. Losing oftentimes builds more character than winning. Players on next year's team that have endured this season will probably be less likely to believe their own hype and more likely to be hungry for victory next season.

At this point, I am free to watch the season w/out expectations, as they died on Thursday.

The Cowboys with Matt Cassell were a much better team than the Panthers with Cam Newton last season pre winning streak.

I went to high school in North Carolina, so I have a ton of friends on social networking sites that are Panther fans....not many were considering Cam a franchise QB before that winning streak.

Anybody thinking this team can run the table needs a very in depth psych eval. Even the biggest of homers cannot think this team has any chance of doing that.

We will be lucky to win two more games - don't get me wrong I love this team through thick and thin and will cheer for them to the end but let's get real here.

You know even a broken clock is right twice a day ! LOL
I am so tired of this sunshine pumping.
I wish we could have a similair experience like when we brought Parcells in to right the ship.
As he used to say you are what your record says you are, we did not get to 3 and 8 by accident.
