Mickey: Time to Fill Up the RB Tank

https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/spagnola-time-to-fill-up-the-running-back-tank-again

Another nice article from mickey, straight forward, no company fluff.

Talks about past history of the great Dallas RB's, and a few others.

He is pushing to go get Jeanty. Said if he drops, should they trade a 3rd round to move up to select him.
But also acknowledged the need to fill other holes, and wait on a RB since there is depth. But sure is high on taking Jeanty.

Said a need for a pass rushing DE, but after Carter, there is really no one there at pick 12. So trade down, then they take take one and get an extra pick.
I'd trade up for one of those top DTs and nothing else. After last year's barrage of team crippling decisions I can see Jerry trading up high in the draft for a running back though (cringe). Doubt one of hose DTs drops to 8 though, best to stand pat or trade back.

I am one who has always believed that with the exception of QB, your skilled position players are interchangeable as long as you have strong and reliable OL and DL, You don’t need AllPro talent but certainly not trash either at those skilled positions.

So Jeanty is not a must have, you can get a very good RB at even the 3rd round. But we do need to get stronger and deeper at the LOS.

He would have to drop to #8 for the Cowboys to get him with a 3rd. I think Jeanty doesn't get past #6.

Don't put it past the Giants to draft him. Their fans are furious at how they handled Barkley. Everyone thinks they're going to draft Carter or Hunter. But nothing helps a rookie QB (provided they draft one) than a really good RB.
Giants would be crazy to pass up on Hunter or Carter for Jeanty. But I can see anyone from pick 4 up to our pick at 12 selecting him.

Here's the crazy thing it's going to be a tough call even if AJ is there at 12 yes, a tough call to pick him ,

because their other running backs are not that big a gap, but the wide receivers are probably not going to be there in the second round at 44 whereas the 3rd or 4th best running back might be.

A lot of people believe all four wide receivers are going to be gone before that that are considered similar or equal this is why if they want a wide receiver this would be the place to do it or if they think they can get one of their 4 wide receivers four or five spots down even if they miss out on TET there's not that big a gap then you move for spots down pick your wide receiver get an extra 3rd round pick and now we have a better draft because we pick up probably another opportunity for a good player in the 1st 3 rounds...

They’re taking Carter your over thinking it.

I've heard and understand all the cons for the Cowboys moving up for a RB1. That said, I hope they make a move to get Jeanty.

Well I know this isn't your idea because that's a dumb idea so can Mickey just st never mind I can't say it all they'll block it but yeah just be quiet there's no way you should move up to get AJ.. I'm sorry but yes he looks like a great player but there's no guarantees the gap in my opinion for the top 4 running backs and the top four wide receivers is not that big, DO not to move up, you move down..

And yes, we've had this discussion, and I know this is just another idea but any move ups in the first street rounds is absolutely counterintuitive for this team we got too many holes to fill to be wasting draft picks to move up and get a player that's probably not that much better, than the other three players in his group..

You want to revamp your running backroom that's what you do you trade down you either get your running back or your wide receiver you pick up an extra 3rd round pick that way in the second round you can take the best running back on the board and then this is the smart move in the 5th round you pick another running back this it's that deep I mean if you have to you could trade something from the 5th through the 7th round and package it and move back into the 4th that way now you have two running backs that go along with the veterans you already have on the team and now you're restocked... A guy like Bucky Irvin last year went in the 4th round there's going to be that guy that way you get 2 for 1..

I mean that trade down just two spots from Parsons from 10 to 12 end up getting us extra 3rd round pick which I believe could have been Osa or could have been Golston either way we got another good player on this team because of a small move down not up..

And I'm all about the two for one...so the alternative is to stand PAT Take BPA, but do not trade up....
His name is Irving not Irvin.

so you might want to get over it ,i'm not fixing it you know who I was talking about but thank you grammar/spelling police. I'm sure you missed something, you might want to go over my whole post and tell me everything else I did wrong on social media where it doesn't matter and as long as you get what we're saying and who we're talking about is all that matters but maybe you have some papers to go grade OK professor, :muttley: :oldcouple:

If Jeanty fell to 12 and we passed on him, Mickey would be the first one saying what a smart move it was.
That's because it's technically not passing it's making a better decision for your team if you feel there's close to or equal talent three spots down you can get the next best running back or one of the top wide receivers and pick up another pick in the third round maybe higher you have to make that move this team is too many players away and the gaps not that big for the top 4 wide receivers are running backs that's just it's just not... I think everyone believes this all that really good top wide receivers are probably gone by 44 but not all the top running backs will be gone by 44 that's the issue here it's not that we don't want AJ and maybe this is going to be another moment where the Cowboys didn't pick Randy Moss or TJ Watt or something crazy and then he turns out to be great and everyone's going to harp on it for years to come but it would be the best move is to move down and still get your targets still get your position and needs with great players you don't have to pick the most popular player that everyone's deeming the best because you don't really know I see a lot of really good running backs that are close to him i'm not saying I'd be mad if they picked him though if they pick AJ and that's their pick at 12 I could live with that because he is probably worth it..

I just can't wait for Thursday night to get here so we can get this process over by Sunday and know exactly who we got can argue over what we should have done or what we could have done but at least we'll know what players we have and start talking about the camps start getting this roster in the same place moving in the same direction because this is getting to be a tired head moment this draft takes too long to get here they need to move it up to March....ughh.

IMO, I don't think they pass up Hunter. But if it's just Carter, it wouldn't surprise me.

JJ will sign any Tom, Dick or Harry to tote the rock, which means only one thing and that is it may take the Cowboys more than 3 RBs to total over 1K rushing yds. As the clock ticks down to the start of the 2025 season, JJ once again is showing the league and beyond just how ignorant he is with the title of OWNER/ OPERATOR!

Anyone who takes Hunter is going to get a huge headache. This dude thinks he's a 2 way player because he played well against stiffs on Colorado's schedule, and now he's threatening any team that drafts him with retirement if they don't allow him to be a 2 way player in the NFL????? What Hunter has done is put a very large target on his back when he's playing against real men in the NFL. It doesn't take much to be put on the IR when opponents play to rough and any team that takes him are going to wish they hadn't, not with the threat hanging over their heads.

I'm surprised Jerry has stuck with Mickey this long and not found a younger mouth piece to spew propaganda for the Cowboys.

Maybe younger generations aren't as interested, so he sticks with his guy.

I see Mickey attached to something on here I never click. This time I did.

At least the Mavericks mouth pieces seem to be hard-core fans that believe in the product and are allowed to voice frustration...Mickey is just straight Homer propaganda.

Surprised he hasn't been tuned out
