Microchipped Pets

I believe a tattoo is another option some use to identify their pets.

I did a little research on the chip when we got our two about six years ago. At the time there were two different types of chips that each required their own type of reader. We ended up deciding not to chip them. They both wear collars and have thier info on flat tags that are riveted to the collar.

My dog was microchipped by the rescue that took him in. The microchip has their info and they have my info, so if he ever gets lost, hopefully the rescue will be contacted.

Maybe I am old fashioned, (well I know I am) but doesn't putting something under the skin of an animal fall outside the realm of common sense?

What are we doing?

Is it to protect the dog from thieves, or if he runs away?
Who is to say the thieves don't just cut it out?

My dog is never out of our site when he is outside. He is always on a leash, we are always with him, .. and I plan to put in some fencing for him and our grandson in the spring.

I hope I am never forced to put a chip in any of my dogs by a city ordinance.

Like I said, I am old school, but I just don't get it.
Amen!

My dog is an indoor dog and never goes outside into my fenced yard alone. So he is not microchipped.

do it for. I microchip both our dogs and they are life savers if they ever get lost.

It is required in our city. Both our dogs have one. I don't see any downside to having it done.

I was thinking about getting my dogs chipped. I was wondering if anyone else has had this done for their pets?
