Mike & Mike & Mike Ditka to do 2nd Game of MNF doubleheader

Mike and mike are about as generic as you can get. Everytime I listen to them they are arguing over stupid things that nobody cares about. They are pretty boring.

Golic does know his football though, so he probably will do a good job in the boothe, not sure about ditka or green. Ditka would seemingly do a very good job with his tense aggressive tone.

Greeny and Golic are good on AFL telecasts and I like their back and forth. Ditka is not needed, but for one game it should be alright.

Moving Jaws to MNF was the best thing they could have done. He is the best analyst going...I really enjoyed the Nessler, Jaws, Vermeil booth too last year.

I really enjoy Mike and MIKE, in the morning. It's one of the few shows, my wife and I can watch together. She loves Mike and MIKE, which surprises the heck out of me because she really doesn't love sports. I think this will be a good crew. Greenie will play Cosell, Golic will play Meredith and Iron Mike will play Gifford. Could be interesting. It's only one game but who knows.

The thing I did find interesting this AM was Ditka's opinion on the face of the NFL. They were asking the question, who would be the face of the NFL if it were like the NBA (Jerry West)? Of course, Greenie was sucking up to Ditka so he said Ditka. Golic was being a homer so he said Joe Montana (Notre Dame) but Ditka's answer was interesting. Basically told them that there was football before 1980. He mentioned Halas, Lombardi and Coach Landry. Went out of his way to talk about Coach Landry. Said he was every bit as big an influence as Lombardi even thou the trophy is named Lombardi. Said some real nice things about Coach Landry. Said it would be his pick. Interesting, to me, that Ditka always seems to go out of his way to point out the Cowboys. He played most of his years with the Bears. His HC was Halas, his first HC job and only Super Bowl was with the Bears but he always goes out of his way to mention Cowboys. He owes a lot to the Cowboys franchise for his last years with the team and his first coaching job but it always amazes me how much he gives up for former Cowboys. Always makes me feel real good to hear him speak about the old Cowboys.

I did too. In fact I thought they were the best 3 man booth since the Gifford, Cosell, Meredith years on MNF.

I like Nessler on college though...he should stay there. Just hearing his voice you know it is a big game.

Yep Nessler is pretty good. He is synonymous with big time college football games, I agree.

I would like to see Wilbon and Kornheiser along with Mike Golic do the game, that would crack me up!

I do too, but I compare every college announcer to Keith Jackson and I still think he is the best ever football announcer at any level.

Musberger is good too.

Musberger makes way too many errors for me... Sometimes I believe he's had one too many sips. :laugh2:

Musberger is great...the way he overstates everything, just so fricking dramatic.

I really like the Verne Lundquist/Gary Danielson crew on CBS doing SEC games. Danielson is great.

I wish Mike Gottfried would get more games, he is one of the better college analysts out there.

The NBC Notre Dame crew is horrid...Hammond and Hayden is just so boring it is not funny.

As far as play by play goes, I also like Al Michael.

But Keith Jackson is the epitomy of College Football IMO. "Whoa...Nellie...hang on to your hats, we've got a real barnburner going on."

I think it was the Ticket last fall who did a montage of Musberger's comments on Colt McCoy from UT during some game he broadcasted. HILARIOUS! Musberger was all over him, and that name. Quite the "beating."

I like Mike & Mike and I think they'll do a good job broadcasting the games. Greenberg is a VERY bright guy who works hard on the shtick necessary for the radio show. He is the real strength of the team and is a big football fan. Golic gets to come across as the "normal" guy on the radio show, but has learned how to express himself very well and perform in an analyst role. I like this decision by ESPN and I'm looking forward to seeing how they do.

Well, before Summerall just got too dang old, he was a real good announcer IMO. I remember him when he was still young enough to have recall and he really was great with a lot of stories, etc. Lots of insight into things that were not public knowledge, at the time. He was real good too, I thought.
