With Moore gone, Quinn will be the next HC. Why not just get it over with and do it now? MM can't game manage in the first place when it's all he has to do, and now he's going to handle the entire offense? Give me a break.

He'll hire Brian Schottenheimer. McCarthy is loyal to his old friends.

McCarthy is loyal to his old friends.
People learn over time who they can feel confident to trust.

When your own job security is at-stake, it becomes increasingly important to hire people you most trust.

Who doesn't get that? Call it loyalty, or call it trust, or call it job security... it's all part of that mix, and it's not limited to the sports entertainment business. Most of us tend to do the same as the situation presents itself in our own employment domains.

No way he can be O.c. and the head coach.
Sean Payton called. He said to tell you, "C'mon. Not exactly novel. Pay attention."

McC will have the chief responsibilities, and he'll hand off the rest to the guy who gets the title of OC, but is technically more like an assistant.

The more important hire, imo, is who gets asked to be Dak's new coach... and... who gets asked to be the coach for Dak's protection.

Sound familiar?

On January 12, 2021, Schottenheimer was fired by the Seahawks following the Seahawks' Wild Card loss to the Los Angeles Rams due to "philosophical differences".[9] Despite a torrid start to the 2020 season which saw career highs for quarterback Russell Wilson in touchdowns and completion percentage, Seattle's offense struggled considerably during the final weeks, with Schottenheimer taking the brunt of the scrutiny due to lack of creativity in the offense and adjustments to the scheme. Regardless, the Seahawks set their franchise record for points scored in a season with 459.
OK but we have to do better than a paragraph here. What didn't he do well? What did he do well? What was the situation in Seattle? Are the Cowboys equipped to utilize his strengths and help with his problem areas?

The guy helped set the franchise record in points so obviously, he isnt total garbage. He also had some really good rushing attacks in Seattle, leading the league in 2018. Fast forward to today and we are seeing that Russel Wilson may or may not have been this great asset everyone thought he was either.

I look at it as Schottenheimer wont be calling plays. He has McCarthy to help out with the passing game. Schottenheimer is known for his ability to be a resource in the run game. If he is basically a run game coordinator with a glorified OC title I'm all in on the idea. If that isn't the case I'm more on your side. Maybe, just maybe we end up with a Kingsbury or a similar name, but that seems like a longshot. My guess is the Cowboys are waiting to see what happens to McAdoo before making an announcement on the new OC with Schottenheimer as the #2 choice.
