We'll see how it all pans out, but yeah the amount of salary cap space is an issue with whomever does resign or stays in 2014.

If you listen to our #cowboys talk on @1053thefan you know why @hatcher97 is tweeting love notes to Marinelli

@fishsports @1053thefan @hatcher97 Guess who's staying!

I guess Dallas is about to announce Ware then probably resign hatcher. Its whats best for Dallas if you ask me, just have to worry about the money on both.
That second tweet is not from Mike Fisher. That's a response to one of his tweets. And while he could've said that, that's not what's posted.

Bye Bye Anthony Spencer?

I wouldn't say that. Spencer, no matter how many teams have asked about him, isn't going to get any big-time deal for multiple seasons. It's not going to happen.

Spencer will be affordable IF the Cowboys want to retain him.

It's not even a rumor, at least not from Fish. Just saying we can't attribute it to him if we go by what's posted. Maybe there's a podcast somewhere

Bring back Jeramius (formerly known as Jay and Jeremiah) Ratliff and it will be one happy dysfunctional reunion on the d-line.

and we wonder why we are mediocre
bring back and aging one year wonder (hatcher), another aging player who has been injured last 2 years (ware) and perhaps resign another injured player on the cheap (spencer)

then go into the season and have to deal with "unexpected" injuries that "devastated" the season

I wasn't for re-signing Hatcher, but at LEAST he gives us flexibility on the DL. Hatcher was slated to play the 1 tech last year, so we could still be open to drafting Aaron Donald if he's available.

Hatcher also stated he would have asked for a trade last year if he had to play the nose. I am pretty sure if we give him the money he wants, he is the centerpiece of the line.

Why are we assuming this means Hatcher is re-signing? Unless I missed something...

It likely means that Hatcher knows that Marinelli has been lobbying hard for him to be given a competitive offer to stay, and Hatch appreciates that. Doesn't mean it's going to happen.

I agree that re-signing Hatcher provides flexibility, but I don't think signing him/restructuring Ware will have much affect on who they pick in RD1. No player on wrong side of 30 in NFL years should stop them from picking DL. The depth at the position was gutted last year and they need at least 7 guys in the rotation. As it stands, the pickings are still slim until they make some moves.

Once he gets his money, I doubt he cares if he's the 3 or the 1. Just my hunch though!

People love Marnelli and want Jones to let coaches have a say. Well from what is being written, this is a Marnelli endorsement. This is his defense and if he wants Hatch over Melton then more power to him. He has coached both so I trust his judgement. Don't rule out both, you never know???

Draft is still coming, everyone in the organization has said the defense needs to get better. DL will get some love in May. IMO

Good point. The reason he would've wanted a trade is because playing the 1 would've impaired his ability to put up numbers and get paid. Moot point after he signs.

But we won't play him at 1T. We've made it clear we don't value that position, so we would not pay the man a big contract and play him at a position of inferior value to our scheme.
