Chargers need to move more than 6,300 tickets by Wednesday

Posted by Mike Florio on August 13, 2012, 10:20 PM EDT

Last week, the Chargers needed to move more than 3,000 tickets to lift the blackout for the preseason opener against the Packers. This week, the Chargers have fewer than 48 hours to move more than twice as many tickets.
The team has announced that more than 6,300 tickets remain for Saturday’s preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. (So much for America’s Team.)

If the non-premium tickets aren’t sold by 6:00 p.m. PT on Wednesday, the blackout won’t be lifted, barring an extension.
The struggles to sell out the preseason games come at a time when the Chargers have opted not to reduce the minimum threshold for ticket sales for the regular season. Teams may go as low as 85 percent; only the Dolphins, Bucs, and Raiders have taken advantage of the relaxed blackout rule.

That's in California, the only place that hates Texas but keeps moving here.

Go back to California.

Yes, the Cowboys have the current NFL and all-time record for consecutive sell outs at home AND on the road, but because we can't fill out a stadium in California for a preseason game, so much for America's Team.

Maybe the ghost of Terry Bradshaw told Florio that.

They are the same in Las Vegas, as a matter of fact everyone that moves to Vegas expecially New Yorkers cant stop talking about how much they hate it here and how good it was in New York or California... And yet we can't get them to leave no matter how hard we try.

I was going to be going to that game, but won't be after all. There was a group of 20 of us from Tucson heading over and it dwindled until it was just 4 and then we all decided not to go. I'm still kind of bummed about it. I love SD.

I have only been to SD a couple of times, but both times I went to Rei Do Gado Brazilian Steak House what a place.

As much as I hate CA, SoCal probably has more Cowboys fans than Texas.

I was stationed in San Diego years ago and if the sports culture there is as it was then you can get a ticket for ANY game, prime seats five minutes before game time. I loved it, problem with the people is they are fair weather fans and besides that the weather is to fair to not be at the beach every weekend, it's fun watching live sporting action but the views at the beach is so much better. (Walking down the street watching ladies go by, watching you) Mmmm Mission Beach.

Its because they saw us try to play last night and nobody wants to pay that much to watch a high school caliber team.

I'd like to see which HS you think could hold the Raiders to 0 points.

It's more a poor reflection on the Chargers than anything.

They are a team I have read may be relocated to LA.

The Chargers can't sell out a regular season game, and Florio wants to blame the Cowboys for being only 6,000 seats shy of selling out a preseason game?

If anything, this says exactly the opposite.

There is a huge contingent of Cowboy fans in SoCal...

All those years of training camp there, during the golden era, bred a LOT of fans...

Interestingly enough, I was in Nashville last week. My middle son likes to collect t-shirts from different colleges all over the country, so I drive around to stores to find them...

The one thing I noticed for sale... Vols jerseys, Titans jerseys and Cowboy jerseys...

I also saw more vehicles with Cowboy stickers on their car than I did Titans... a couple of them were totally pimped out for the Cowboys...

I really doubt that....
Have you ever been here? It's Cowboys everything, everywhere. If you didn't know better, you wouldn't know the Chargers even exist.

Who is Mike Florio? An ex player from San Diego?

I don't know about that part, but I do know they're more passionate about the Cowboys when the team plays out there. I wish we could import those fans to Cowboys Stadium on game days, because they beat the snot out of much of the home town crowd.

Besides, it's not the fault of Cowboys fans that Chargers fans are so wishy washy. Florio should know that.
