Mike Florio tough on Cowboys

like i said in a previous post there is nothing i can write that would make those of you that share your POV, that Jerry is an extremely accomplished individual - you do realize that he wasn't given fame and fortune right? You do realize the hard work and risks that it took him to get there right?

Of course you dont, you are blind to your hatred of him to even be able to acknowledge the massive personal accomplishment and achievement he has made - and as i have said many times before i am not a jerry supporter but denying hes incredibly successful and accomplished is ludicrous
I don't hate Jerry. I actually am as ambivalent about him as any other person, for the most part. I just pushed back on the idea that he's some sort of mythical figure with "historical accomplishments". 100 years from now, when we're all gone, he will be a footnote. Jerry Jones, guy who made money in oil, buys football team, reaps profits, then dies like everyone else. It's even possible, maybe even likely, that "NFL Football" won't exist in the same way as it does now, and in that sense, what ACTUAL IMPACT will he have had? If you answered, none, you'd be correct.

And I somehow missed that Jerral has a Netflix series. I don't know who is watching that drooling, mushmouthed, drunken, philandering fool wallow in his narcissism, but to each their own.

Saying Jerry is a football man because he played college football and has been around it all his life is like having a 1924 Model T in my driveway and saying “I have a great classic car in my driveway.” Which doesn’t make it a great car to drive NOW.

I’ve known lots of people who have a law degree and spent decades in courtrooms. Doesn’t mean they are a great lawyer. Experience in and of itself does not guarantee greatness.

Jerry is a great businessman who BOUGHT an NFL team. His great skill is business and sales, not football. His purchase of the team guaranteed he and his kids are “football people”. There is not another team in the NFL that would hire Jerry or Stephen as their GM.
As I said, I made my comment and stick by it.
He can know football but just has not made it work to build a team post Jimmy. Not a SB caliber team anyway. And yes they had some very good teams. It just didn’t work out well.

Many teams are and we’re in the same position. They build teams but can’t get to the SB either.

He has been around football his entire life, and has played for a championship college team. He has owned the Cowboys since 1989. Won 3 SB's inspire of the haters saying it was all Jimmy.
It is safe to say he knows football.

He does actually know much more about football than most on here posting how much they think they know.
No he is not a football genius, but he knows more than most on here.
I am not by any means defending him. Just using common sense and logic. This FO has failed us as fans the past 20 years.
Not 30 years. Did anyone truly think the team was not going to have down years after the triplets were gone. Did anyone expect deep playoff runs from say 2000 to 2006.

Fans are blinded by their hate and / or their homerism. And it shows.

It took the Hunts 50 years to get back to a SB. Apparently they knew nothing about football either. Where is the outrage there, just swept under the rug, since it does not fit a fans narrative. Until a guy named Mahomes came along they sucked at ownership from what fans are applying to Jerry.
Jerry has 20 more years to find his Mahomes if you compare it that way. :lmao:
This notion that Jerry played a major role in Jimmy's construction of those Super Bowl teams is hilarious. So, he played for Arkansas in the 1960's. So what? He shows up in Dallas in 1989 and knows what exactly about NFL football? Nothing. He was a fan and was less familiar with the cowboy roster than many of us. He hired Jimmy and gave him CONTROL OF FOOTBALL OPERATIONS. He had to bc he didn't know anything. This is not in dispute. It's a fact. Jimmy made every football decision in Dallas from the time he arrived until the time he left. Sure, Jerry pitched in selling the Walker trade to hershel with a fat bonus check. Well, congrats to Jerry. The man is a football moron. No GM in NFL history has even been given half the opportunity to fail this spectacularly over a 30 year period. He is literally celebrated from coast to coast as the biggest idiot in the NFL.

I understand brother. But all those teams haven’t had the same GM for 30 years without much playoff results. Even bad teams like Cle, Mia, etc have tried different GMs when they don’t succeed.

We are the only team in the NFL that keeps the same GM after all these years of playoff drought. If the same GM can’t get you to win even a divisional playoff game in three decades, it’s time for someone else to try. But that can’t happen here.

That’s what’s frustrating. It’s not just the drought. It’s the wash, rinse and repeat with the same people.

its not a drought. It's a "drought".

KC had the same owner / family for 50 years and had multiple GM”s.
Why don’t they get the same scrutiny?

Same HC for a long time. Until they got a QB. As I said Jerry has 20 more years to find his Mahomes.

We are nothing like KC who has had the same ownership family (the Hunts) for 60+ years. A family that hires a GM and holds him accountable for results The Hunt family delegates authority appropriately and let’s those people run football operations. We have an owner who hires himself and his kids with zero accountability.

The chiefs have one of the best GMs in sports in Brett Veach who worked really hard to scout Mahomes and move up in the 2017 draft to get him. And even more importantly, Veach understands the importance of building a great defense around his great QB. And uses trades, FA and smart cap management to support their generational talent at QB.

Like I said, the Hunt family is nothing like our ownership family.

And how can Jerry ever find the next Mahomes type QB if he never drafts one?
