Mike Hamlin... wow he has instincts

I think the team wants him to be one of the starting Safeties, but he will have to earn it over Ball.

hrmm.. everyone looks like a pro bowler in their highlight videos. surely there must be a reason why he lasted so long in the draft.

Wasn't he projected for 2nd or 3rd round but dropped because of injury?

yea i hear you, i know Ball is Wades Fav so far, so if Hamlin makes it and starts...it will be because he earned it, and WOW'd them

Good instincts. He runs a little stiff.

Yep, I just hope he has NFL-level quickness and athleticism. If he does, he could be a starter for us for years. The guy is smart, productive, and of high character... What's not to like?

I really like the 2009 draft. I have a feeling that in time, the peanut gallery will rue the day they labeled that class "special teamers only".

Or they'll just move on to griping about something else.

That's correct. His senior season was not the best either. That and a slow 40 got him. He looks like a SS.

He needs to work on his speed and quickness. That's what will hold him back I think.

Its going to be a battle between him and Ball, he is bigger but Ball has experience, I can't wait until training camp.

Hard to say vs the Citadel. A couple of those picks were thrown right at him.
I'm pulling for him though.

Actually, if a player has great instincts, their speed "numbers" don't matter as much because their "mental anticipation" covers up their physical issues. Plus, Hamlin looks "football" fast anyway (plays faster than he times).

By the way, his 40 time at the combine was 4.57, which isn't bad at all for a 6'2", 214 lb guy.

I look forward to seeing a healthy Mike Hamlin competing. I hope to see a hotly contended battle for the spot. Come on guys knock my socks off. :laugh2:

Everybody is sleeping on Ball but he has game just watch.;)

Ball has some game experiance at this level both as a CB and a safety so that is a big help. Heading into this season his focus has been on safety not both position so it should be interesting to see how Ball fairs. As far as I'm concerned I'm pulling for both guys and hope to see both show some good play when they are out of the field.

The Cowboys use their SS as the coverage guy so he's actually better off as a FS in their system. So he can be a rover.

His athleticism is pretty stout. His quickness however isn't. He relies on instincts to get position. He's tailor made to roam in CF.
