Did anyone listen to the Lunch Break today. They went on and on about practice squad player Mike Jefferson and how he really matured during the season. They said the coaches were gushing over his improvement and that Jefferson regularly beat our starting corners in practice.

I am sorry to say I did not even know he was on the team nor do I know anything about him. I can't wait for preseason to see him and Stanback. I do not have high hopes these two will be difference makers but I like pulling for the underdogs.

IIRC, they said he was beating Tnew in practice. I remember seeing his name as a practice squader, but it's hard to get your hopes up for these unknown guys. Time will tell.

Mike Jefferson went to Parkland High School, right down the street from me. I've been routing for him to make the roster because of the hometown connections.

I barely remember watching him play, I think I was 13 at the time. But from what I do remember, he was clearly a cut above anyone else in the city. He was a beast in high school.

Man, Stanback routinely beats our starting corners. Jefferson beats our starting corners.

Our starting corners must be bad. Or is it possible that the receivers have some advantages in practice situations.

They were up against Jacques Reeves and Nate Jones, the question is who didn't beat these starting corners.

CB WR one on one drill are so heavily slanted towards the offense. No safety or LB help = youre screwed.

I know i have a few clips of him during training camp, he made this one touchdown catch that made you go ”wow!”
I was really impressed with him, although i think he was kindof inconsistent.

Jerry has repeatedly mentioned Jefferson's name as one of the youngsters who they tought were better than any of the receivers we could have gotten in the middle of the draft. A lot of people think only of Hurd, Austin and Stanback, but it sounds like the team considers Jefferson to be in that group, too.

Well I guess I was not paying enough attention because I don't remember hearing about him.

It would be nice if we could gain a consistent 4th receiver who could help move the chains. I realize that might be Felix Jones now.

Also, no pressure means more time to get in and out of routes, make double moves, etc.

Offensive players should beat defensive players in those situations.

I remember him as a high school recruit.

I think he went to the University of Arizona before he ended up at Montana State.

I'm glad to hear he's doing well.

So if he is on our practice squad, shouldn't JJ be keeping it sort of hush hush on how well he is doing?
