I disagree with his rankings.................Mariota, White, and Gordon will not be the first players taken in their respective positions

Why does Mayock always seem to have 2 or 3 guys who are tied for a spot? He's the only guy I know who averages 5.5 guys in his top 5 rankings. Is he that indecisive? These aren't his children - he can pick a favorite.

Mayock said the problem with Jones is that you have to be a bit hesitant on combine freaks who rocket up the draft boards.

Which is absolutely correct. A guy should never rocket up boards due to great combine/pro day numbers. It should only be used to confirm what was seen on film. On the other hand though, a really bad combine/pro day should drop a player. If a guy plays a speed position and runs slow in agility drills, he probably should move down the board.

Most scouts give number grades. It's very possible they just graded out to the same number and he just doesn't break the tie with personal preference.

I'm seeing more and more talk of Malcolm Brown over Danny Shelton, of late. Be honest, I never even considered Shelton as an option because I just didn't think anybody, other then Williams would come off the board before him. If any of this is true, Shelton might be an option for us. That's crazy.

Do you think we pick him? I can easily see us passing on him.

Honestly, I don't know. He's much bigger then what Marinelli usually looks for. He's not really explosive off the ball but he's very agile and quick. I really, really like Shelton a lot. I just don't know if Marinelli would take him.

I would love Shelton here. He will likely never be a high sack guy, but he gets a lot of push up the middle. He's incredibly strong, has a non-stop motor and very hard to move off his spot on running plays. Incredible upper body strength, but does need to work on using leverage better. My one concern is keeping him at an ideal weight.

Overall I think he could be an elite 1T in this scheme and would hate if the Cowboys passed him over. I'm not a fan of run stuffers only high in the draft, but I think he gets plenty of push up the middle to wreak havoc on a OL. Probably a 4-5 sack guy that will command double teams often on run and pass plays.
