Mike McCarthy managed that game like a first time head coach

Honestly, his time management sucks and decision to kick a 51 yard field goal on a 4th and 1 was spineless.

That was a call Jason Garrett would've made.
It's called "GUN SHY"................

no he didn't.
we would've lost if he had.
he coached that game like a guy who knows what the hell he is doing.
some of you are too young or just don't remember what it looks like.
patience.
you'll get there.

Of all his calls to go on 4th that's the one you take issue with?

That’s 6 games in a row now. This team is winning despite its HC much like they did in the past. While a rod is a prick he’s dead on about mike not being a smart coach.

Cool another thread about the same thing as 12-47 other threads

This type of thread and the posts it will bring. Is why I created the thread earlier.
We are 5-1 and many are going overboard with stuff like this. As well about some players.

Yes there are issues but we are 5-1. Wow….

He would have went for it on 4th and 1 if it wasn’t for that debacle at the goal line.

Can’t trust the refs to give Dak or any player from the backfield a favorable spot if tackled close to the marker.

The worst decision was going for it on 4th and 1 from our 30 on the opening drive. Im 51 years old and been watching football since about 1977 and I am not sure I have ever seen a prop or college coach do something like that. That decision was foolish since we were by far the better team. We handed them 7 points.

and yes, his time management is atrocious. Like Romo said, if you are calling TO in the 4th on that 4th down play it is because you are 100% going for it.
If you are kicking the FG, then you let the clock get down to 3 secs and then call timeout. We left them anough time to snap it and throw it 25 yards down field 2 or 3 times and if they complete it once, they kick a FG and we lose.

Horrible. And Im damn happy with this team, but its bad decisions EVERY week from him.

If you're looking for examples of confirmation bias this message board is the place to be. o_O

"We're winning despite the bad coach"
He must be our voodoo doll then. we cant get rid of that good luck talisman

MM is typically going to go for it on fourth down. This much he has shown us.

The times he doesn't are usually when it's a matter of lead change or pulling ahead by 2 scores ect.

There does at this point at least appear to be some method to his madness.

I don’t always agree, and it doesn't often appear to be based on any feel for the game. Nonetheless it's usually not surprising or hard for me to predict when we are going to be aggressive.

I heard it right here in the zone that MM sucks because he did not win a preseason game....
I heard it right here in the zone that it is MM fault the Cowboys are not 6-0.
All I hear is Complainers Complaining not matter who wins or who loses....they just complain....

The Cowboys are 5-1 and fans are upset.....come on man..

Looks like the analytics team agreed with MM decisions...

FIRST QUARTER: With 12:04 remaining, the Cowboys (tied 0-0) faced a fourth-and-1 from their own 34-yard line. Ezekiel Elliott was stuffed for no gain, and the Patriots took over.

We care more about the process than outcome when it comes to evaluating fourth-down decisions. In this case, McCarthy was right to go for it, despite the offense not converting on the play. The NGS Decision Guide recommended Dallas go for it instead of punt by a difference of 2.6 percentage points in win probability value. This was driven heavily by the Cowboys' chances of converting if they went for it (73.9 percent), which increases even more if they called a run play (77.2 percent).
