It takes a QB who knows how to quickly read a defense and throw with anticipation. Dak is below average in both of those areas. So, either dumb down the offense again to one that he can run or find a new QB. There were receivers open most times but Dak makes the wrong read often.

I don't think the Cowboys were getting anywhere with Moore anyway. They couldn't beat the 49ers with him either.

The Cowboys offensive struggles in the red zone showed up all over the field today. They're basically trying to run west coast, but the 49ers run a much different version with more motion, screens, counters. They're putting theor players in much better positions making it easier for Purdy.
Shanahan makes Purdy great. Put Purdy on the Cowboys, he'd look average at best. Shanahan gets people OPEN, McCarthy plays rarely do.

And when they do, Dak misses.the throw too often. Match made in heaven. An offense that can have good stats, but not enough meaningful production, especially against solid defenses.

He sure is killing it with his awe inspiring offense. What an inspiration he is to the team. Just kicked a top 3 offensive coordinator to the curb for this mess. McCarthy will probably be fired in the off season.
MM is in trouble! He found out what Moore already knows and that is when you call plays that allows WENTZ 2.0 to throw down field expect the worse when he let's it fly. I predict he'll be out of a job in the very near future when this team goes belly up with the schedule they have. JJ do not give WENTZ 2.0 and extended contract....................

This entire team is anemic because they are overpaid clowns that only care about the hype and attention they get. They pay more attention to Twitter and the pregame fashion show than the actual game

No, it's the situational play calling and the efficiency that he will bring to the table.
As said by well known guys here.

This horizontal WCO s**t has fizzled already at the 5 game mark.

Pathetic.
My dead horse remains.
Offensive play calling and QB decision making will determine team success for this year.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This post has been brewing for a while now. I was alarmed at the lack of redzone success in the game against the Jets. Then, the Cowboys could have been tied with the Cardinals 28-28, if they had scored TD's instead of field goals. Same last week against the Patriots - only two offensive TD's, one in garbage time to go with one when the game was in question - but hey, three more field goals. The big offseason offensive acquisition, Brandin Cooks, has been MIA. Except for last week, so is Michael Gallup.

5 games is enough to know that this offense is not championship caliber at this time. The defense is going to have to carry them.

I believe Mike is a good head coach. But he doesn't need to be calling the plays anymore.
Mike and dak need to be shown the door…

What is the premise of this offense? They try to run, especially on first down, but it's so predictable. And then on 2nd and medium or long, instead of using play action, they go straight to Shotgun, only to throw 5-yard TE routes or passes to the flat ????? Very few downfield throws. Very few people who look "open". I just don't understand the scheme and play designs, and the overall offensive philosophy.

The bottom line is the Cowboys on many plays don't pose a real threat. The primary receiver on too many passing plays is less than 10 yards. It's maddening.

In contract, teams like the Eagles and Niners are always looking downfield, and know how to get people open downfield. And those teams (and others, like the Jags who I happened to watch today), they use a bunch of various routes (out routes, posts, drags, streak-hitch, etc.). The McCarthy/Dak offense is unimaginative and basic by comparison, so defenses are not consistently threatened, thus they're all over so many of these simple route philosophies.

Dak's arm is not strong enough for a long out or a deeper post route, and that's a real problem.

And McCarthy's scheme is not productive or threatening enough.

With a tough schedule, the defense and special teams are going to have to carry the offense in most games.

That's what happens when you hire this old guard trash that other teams throw away instead of these younger coaches.
Thats what I've been saying tool....We cant seem to get away from rehashing old coaches...We love our retread coaches.....

5 weeks in and not fully installed. Hard to fully judge but off to a rough start.

And there is no way he gets fired unless the wheels just completely fall off and the Cowboys finish 5-12.
I'd rather finish at 5*12 to get a good pick....

McCarthy is showing that he has zero confidence in Dak's ability to read defenses. Dak gets flustered too quickly.

How many OC’s, WR’s and HC’s until we look ourselves in the mirror and admit what the problem is.

MM can't even manage the clock and he's the OC too to boot with a QB that gets flustered too quickly.
That's what I saw, too. Dak flustered all damn game, even in the 3rd and 4th quarters when you're supposed to be settled in.

If he is I hope we got with a younger fresh coach. No more older retreads. Get a young innovative guy in there. Search for someone from Kyle Shanny staff/tree lol.
Dan Quinn is the next guy up. He's earned it.

You can throw tonight in his face, but it wasn't his fault he got Texas Coast Offended.
