Cowboys fans hated the bend don't break approach of Marinelli (and Zimmer back in the day).

I said before the season that Nolan does not play that philosophy.

Now fans are seeing why bend don't break had it's benefits...
Why is it that we have to settle for bend but don’t break or Nolan’s defense? Why can’t we have...I don’t know a solid defense that generates turnovers? I hate Nolan’s defense but I sure as hell don’t want Maranellis either.

It’s completely genius to run zones all game with no pass rush. So genius it’s stupid.
To me our DB’s are better in man than zone
Obviously you can’t play man the whole game but they seem better at it to me
My deal with Nolan is he knew this was gonna be a bad off season to try and teach a new system and it appears he didn’t take that into consideration
Maybe he can point out the problem but I’d be more impressed if he fixed it
Lots of guys here can point out the problem

Scheme Types
Marinelli: Bend-don't-break.
Nolan: Aggressive

Players vs Scheme
On a defense stacked with great players and without any liability type players, an aggressive scheme would be preferred.

On a defense with limited overall talent, bend-don't-break is preferred.

Nolan's defense doesn't suck because its aggressive though.

I would not say the defense is aggressive.

Nolan plays BBDB a lot.

And we are in a 4-2-5 almost every play.

it’s all off man cover with a mix of cover 2/3.

lots of zone too.

im not seeing a lot of blitz packages. Anyone seeing A gap blitzes?

I’m just seeing guys a step slow every play. Just sitting in zone coverages 10 yards apart from their receiver.

I keep saying it. Around the league every team running a new scheme is sucking.

Tell that to Carolina, who made wholesale coaching changes like Dallas and have reduced their points allowed by almost a TD (5.6) per game. They even lost Luke Keuchly to retirement to boot.

The Cowboys love to make excuses. Some of their fans do, too.

Ok. So shut up until tomorrow

It's past tomorrow. We played a softer offense (statistically they were one of the worst in the NFL) so we could fairly judge Nolan. Now we can talk, right?

On Sunday the Skins were:

- 9 for 15 on third downs, their best performance of the year
- Their 397 total yards were the best performance of the year
- Their 6.0 yards per play were their best performance of the year
- Their 208 rushing yards were the best performance of the year
- That was their best yards per carry performance all year at 5.3 yards per carry
- Allen's 111 rating was the best QB rating all year for the Commanders

So yeah, we waited until we faced a bad offense to judge Nolan and the defense and guess what?

It didn't get better on defense.

If you said there is just a few plays that make this defense bad, then you were dead wrong. I see play after play of getting beat all over the field by multiple players.
He probably meant a few plays on every series:muttley:
