Signed by Cowboys Mike Pettine to join Cowboys staff

When it is so bad and doom, that we have to search the yellow pages for a in-season defensive consulant.
this move confirms the eventual writing on the wall for DC parker. One and done.

Parker just doesn't know how or have a clue of what he is doing defensively en route ro his unit being dead last (once again) in NFL defensively.

Will this DC Parker failed hire also doom Schotty, would be another question...

If Schotty survives a firing, rest assure the Jones will once again insist on personally selecting the new DC ..for Schotty this time around.
" Love it or Leave it"

The circus. So CP was demoted to assistant DC?
No.

Again Parker wanted Petine to join staff when he was hired. Petine opted to stay retired. Todd archer reported then that Petine had an open invitation.

Im not sure why a young first time DC struggling seeking help is viewed as a bad thing.

Humiliating for Parker.
I was going to use a different h word

Humbling

Parker has had success and the tools to be a good coach but is struggling going from a position coach to a unit coach.

Bringing in someone he trusts that can help him with his growth as an honest sounding board is a great idea as long as he listens to him

Found this clip of Mike Pettine explaining a 3-3-5 structure he used in Green Bay that can present as a 5-down front. This could be a solution for Dallas.

The Cowboys have been better against the run in their 3-4 base but have struggled against the run out of traditional 4-down nickel fronts.

The idea isn’t to run this every down. It’s for run-heavy situations where offenses use 11 personnel to force Dallas into nickel, then attack the lighter front.

You keep 5 DBs on the field but use 3 DTs inside and 2 OLBs on the edges, with just 1 traditional inside linebacker at the second level.

One edge would feature a traditional OLB like Rashan Gary or Malachi Lawrence. On the other, you could use a versatile hybrid LB with edge experience, like Barham or Liufau. Overshown would be your lone inside linebacker behind the front.

Essentially, you’re bringing the strengths of the 5 down front in your 3-4 base into nickel without sacrificing coverage personnel.

Hopefully Pettine can help incorporate this concept into Dallas. It could give them a way to defend the run without having to play more base and risk mismatches against spread offenses.

We could exhume curly lambeau himself and he wouldn't be able to help this team against GB Sunday. That's how defunct we are. The defense simply doesn't have enough good players. Scheme aside, the defense is loaded with low IQ, overrated players. Jags. Outside of Barham and Malachi, Porter, it's very bad. Zero quality depth. Just bodies. I been stunned how below average Downs has looked. Maybe they have him out of position. Just looks like we don't know what to do on defense. We never account for the RB out of the flat. No integrity on d.

Sounds great. Like the concept. But you still need talent. You need smart players too. We have little of either. Mike will have a tough task ahead.

It's too late. Something like this needs done during camp. For now, this is a hail Mary. I don't expect much this year.
