On a dispicable, losing team. Mookie Betts came in second, on a playoff team. The BBWAA got it right. Last player in the AL to get it on a losing team was ARod in '03, and just the fifth player ever to accomplish the feat, Ernie Banks (1958 and 1959), Andre Dawson (1987) and Cal Ripken (1991). Mike Trout, generational phenom. A true, generational phenom. I love him. I hate Arte Moreno.

Here's some of the voting:

He will be a Met in another year :D

Shame on you.

Eppler has categorically said he will trade the ballpark before he trades Trout, now its time for Eppler to continue to do the good job he's done in his first year with the Halos. He needs to build around this once in a lifetime, a true once in a lifetime player.

He's above generational. He's Michael Jordan. He's Wayne Gretzky. But is failed by a horrid owner that makes Jerry Jones look like Robert Kraft.

From 1962 to 1966, CF Willie Mays hit .304/.382/.601 (.984) with 223 HR, 570 RBI, 583 R, 59 SB, and 52.3 bWAR. He earned just 1 MVP Award.

From 2012 to 2016, CF Mike Trout hit .310/.410/.564 (.975) with 163 HR, 481 RBI, 580 R, 139 SB, and 47.8 bWAR. He earned 2 MVP Awards!

Way to go my Trouty

I'm well aware that other fans (and said team's writers) lust for Trouty... he's like that chick you dreamed of, thought you had a chance at, but was just always out of reach. Always a dream, so close, yet so, so far away. :)

Don't be naive, all it takes is another season or two of losing before they search for greener pastures

Of course, my luck is we finally sign him well past his prime at age 36 trying to hang on :(

Mike Trout MVP voting since entering the league:

2012 - 2nd (should have won)

2013 - 2nd

2014 - 1st

2015 - 2nd

2016 - 1st

The man is absurd. This award is deserved.

Already a lock for the HoF and he's only 25.

You can have him when he's 40. Eppler is finally turning this rotten franchise in the right direction. He wouldn't go to the Mets, anyways. If he left it would only be for the Yanks.

The worst year in Pujols' first 11 seasons was better than the best year so far in Trout's career. Trout is great but his numbers don't even compare to Pujols'.

AP WAR

2001 - 6.6
2002 - 5.5
2003 - 8.6
2004 - 8.5
2005 - 8.4

MT WAR

2012 - 10.8
2013 - 9.3
2014 - 7.9
2015 - 9.4
2016 - 10.6

Gotta disagree, Joey. But Albert Pujols is an all time great. He was also 4 years older than he stated when he entered the league (which is really showing now on my Halos). He had an unbelievable stretch, but what Trout is doing now is almost unprecedented. He just passed Ty Cobb for WAR through age-24 season, the former leader through their respective age-24 seasons. Ty Cobb.

Mike Trout - more hits prior to 25 than Pete Rose. More home runs prior to turning 25 than Barry Bonds. More runs scored prior to turning 25 than Ricky Henderson. And, finally, more total bases prior to turning 25 than Hank Aaron.

What do all those names represent -- the greatest in their respective category. He's ahead of them all at this point in his young, but already HoF-worthy career. Pretty awesome, huh! Trouty is a once in a lifetime ball player, folks.

I know most of this board are Ranger fans (and a small minority Astro fans). I'm not trying to rub it in, I promise. Trout is above the game. Above any team. Sorry if my fan boi in me is grating to some of you AL rivals :)

I was talking more about HR/RBI/AVG which shatters Trouts' if you look at them side by side. I haven't really gotten deep into the sabermetrics to be honest. Then again I haven't watched baseball very much over the past 10 years.

I appreciate you being honest, Joey. Yes, AP's "fancy" stats are better than Trout's, but Trout's sabremetrics obliterate Pujols'. Mike Trout is a more well-rounded player (quite an understatement, but I'm being nice :)), playing the most premium defensive position in baseball :)
