A backup quarterback who has no interest in doing the mental prep work involved with being a backup quarterback is useless. Weeden played bad against an excellent defense. What Vick did at San Diego was flat out embarrassing.

So the OP won't run away, its not a crazy thought. It's just a bad idea. Vick gets hurt too much as well as fumbles. He can be unbeatable at times. He's just inconsistent. And if he's lost a step then he's not the same guy.

Weeden is also better than most here give him. He may have been ruined in Cleveland. He has a gun but not as strong as Vick's. But neither matters as they can all make the throws. It's can they see the field and make the tight throws without turnovers.

Weeden will likely be the backup QB but I'd like to get someone in here early if they are changing so he can learn the system and the players.
