Falcons' Vick a no-show for Capitol Hill appearance

ATLANTA - Michael Vick gets an incomplete from Congress.

The Falcons quarterback was scheduled to lobby on Capitol Hill, hoping to persuade lawmakers to increase funding for after-school programs. But Vick missed a connecting flight in Atlanta and failed to show for his Tuesday morning appearance.

Vick's publicist, Susan Bass, said it wasn't his fault. The quarterback was in Tampa, Fla., on Monday to play in teammate Warrick Dunn's charity golf tournament, then caught a flight to Atlanta that was supposed to arrive in time for him to make another flight to Reagan National Airport in northern Virginia.

But the AirTran flight was late leaving Tampa, Vick missed his connection and wound up stuck in Atlanta, Bass said.

"He was really mad," she said. "He was on the plane and everything, but the plane didn't come in until late."

AirTran, which has an endorsement deal with Vick, gave a different account of Vick's travel arrangements. While acknowledging that the flight from Florida was late getting into Atlanta, causing him to miss his 8:35 p.m. connection, airline spokesman Tad Hutcheson said the player was booked on a 10:50 p.m. flight.

Vick failed to show and the flight left Atlanta with about 20 empty seats, Hutcheson said.

Vick's mother, Brenda Boddie, accepted an award from the Afterschool Alliance on her son's behalf. The quarterback was honored for his foundation's work with after-school projects in Georgia and Virginia.

As reported last night by FOX 43 and WAVY-TV, property in Virginia owned by Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has been searched by police. Per the reports, several animal control trucks were on the scene, and the sound of barking dogs could be heard.

Most of the "real" media is chasing this latest story with the same zeal that was displayed after Vick was sued for giving a former girlfriend herpes and after a water bottle with a hidden compartment that smelled not of water was found in his possession in a Miami airport. But there are indications that this one could be (key words: "could be") a doozy.

Per WAVY-TV, police discovered "animal neglect" on the property, in the form of dogs that appeared to be "hungry and forgotten."

In a video report on FOX 43, Surry County (Va.) administrator Tyrone Franklin says that "it does give the appearance of some activity, illegal activity."

Though Franklin doesn't specify the illegal activity, our own Taco Bill has found a report regarding the story on Pet-Abuse.com containing the following paragraph that is nothing short of a bombshell:

"Early reports indicate that Vick was allegedly running a dog-fighting and cockfighting operation from the back of the home. The Virginia Animal Fighting Taskforce was on the scene. Authorities report that Vick had been under investigation for several years for illegal animal fighting."

A search warrant has been issued for a property in Surry County owned by NFL Atlanta Falcons star quarterback Michael Vick.

Vick does not live at the home. It is inhabited by Vick's nephew. Police said Vick does not spend much time on the property.

The search warrant was granted by the Surry County Circuit Court. A state task force went to the property searching for a person that they believed may be on the property, but the person was not Vick. Investigators would not reveal the name of the person they were searching for.

While investigators were at the property, they discovered three buildings behind the home that housed several barking dogs.

"When they had a chance to go to the site, they discovered animal neglect," Surry County Administrator Tyrone Franklin.

Franklin said that the dogs appeared to be hungry and forgotten.

Both state and county investigators were searching the property Wednesday afternoon. Several animal control trucks were also on the scene and dog barking was audible.

No further information about the warrant has been released at this time. More information will be available after the investigation is complete.

its his third run in with the law in the last couple months, add that to the fact that it is being reprted he has been under investigation for animal cruelty for a few years and I dont think he is totally innocent. He is actualy due in court today if he doesnt settle his fine to take care of a tresspassing arrest that wasnt reported in feb.

I remember an article SI did on Vick when he was still in college. There were a few pictures of him walking around with a pit bull.

Of course, not all pit bull owners are into dog fighting....but there is gonna be a little prejudice there.

football news, or attempt to once again slight Vick. Not bad enough you guys whine about his playing ability, but now everything he does in offseason becomes a issue? When Goodell pulls him into his office, it aint a problem.

I have been one of Vicks bigger supporters. He is starting to regress on the field and he is running into minor problems off the field. Maybe the two are related. Maybe they are not. I thought Atlanta made a poor choice in hiring Mora and Mora did a poor job in handling Vick. I thought Atlanta has done a poor job at getting quality wide receivers. Still Vick has some culpability in his play regressing on the field.

I dont think they are, i think he is only regressing because none of the coaches know what they want him to do. ONe coach comes in and says hey sit back and throw. ANother comes in and says no go ahead run around. Then turns and says wait no throw the ball. Oh wait that doesnt work, ok run some more. Vick needs someone stable.
