Word is the Vikings really like their OC Stefanski, and rumors are if the Vikings lose to the Saints Zimmer could very well be out and Stefanski the next HC.

No secret that Zimmer was really liked by Jerry he just wasnt a guy for Parcells. I think he would be a name to watch if he is ousted in Minnesota.

Well of course he would be. But he’s currently not free and I can’t imagine Jerry is even thinking about him as we speak. My bet is he already knows who he’s bringing in and has for awhile. He’s doing a dog and pony show for JG. He will be all smiles when he finally announces the new hire selling us all.

On a side note, JJT is friends with Zim, who still owns a house in Coppell, and he said that he was so furious that Jerry passed him over for Wade as he had the number one defense with Bill and had to change to the 34 for him.

Rappaport mentioned this a few days ago too. And specifically mentions Dallas would be a real possibility because of ties he still has in the area.

Rapp has mentioned about 12 names it seems since then. But anything is possible.

Kubiak another name mentioned in same show heard about Zimmer. His health is only concern they stated. Not a bad guy add to staff with Zimmer if he’s up for it. He’s good with QBs...that wouldn’t be bad at all. Gee,more we talk about this....more it sounds like something not to laugh off. We really have no clue who’s in their minds. It’s obviously being kept this close to vest for a reason.

For anyone still complaining about Zimmer's defense he ran when he was here, he doesn't run the same defense anymore. Once he got to Cincy, he learned from Marv Lewis and his defense evolved. For one thing, he blitzes much more than he did here. And his blitz aren't just vanilla type either. He is known for his double A gap blitzes. He'll typically have 2 LBs threatening the 2 A gaps and a FS and a Nickle Corner lined up on the LOS. Not all will blitz and some will drop back but that's what it makes it hard on the offense. The offense don't know who is coming out of the four.

That's one thing Zimmer is different from JG. He isn't stubborn and stuck in one's ways. He was willing to change when Parcells wanted go to a 3-4. Zim is willing to adapt and evolve. I also heard he still talks to Parcells every week.

But is Zimmer just another puppet coach under Jerry? I just don't want another "yes man". I want a coach that demands to have authority to do what needs to be done. Does Zimmer have that type of personality?
