Hear me out.
Given the GM/Owner has another 10-15 years of life before having his body Walt Disney'd (half-kidding),
1) Someone who knows how the organization operates would be beneficial.
2) Someone who is not afraid of confrontation and demands execution
3) Someone who can build a viable, stingy, 4-3 Defense (you can't change yet again- can you?)
4) Someone who has been away from Dallas long enough to develop a rapport with coaches to grab outside of the Cowboys coaching trees- and select an OC of his own choice
5) Someone the players like playing for (never a criticism of Zimmer)
6) Someone who doesn't preach rhetorical positivity to grown men like they are 13 years old and putting pads on for the first time
I'd like a competitive team first and foremost. This team is not competitive unless they have an extreme edge in talent to their opponent. The D needs an overhaul, but Jerry won't reach past his own ego for coaches that can really build a blueprint for rebuilding. He refuses to rebuild. And I think someone like Zimmer might be able to turn 7-9, 8-8 to 10-6 or 11-5.
It's the only chance we have as a fanbase to get back in the hunt. RHG is done, Kiffin is gone, and something has to be done but I fear the next HC will be a ruse large enough to make Garrett look like Lombardi. At least a hard nosed, demanding coach like Zimmer will be a step forward from our flowering daisy at HC, our geriatric DC and can maybe cope with Jones' incompetence and get something done.
