Mike Zimmer: the right choice for HC?

Hear me out.

Given the GM/Owner has another 10-15 years of life before having his body Walt Disney'd (half-kidding),

1) Someone who knows how the organization operates would be beneficial.
2) Someone who is not afraid of confrontation and demands execution
3) Someone who can build a viable, stingy, 4-3 Defense (you can't change yet again- can you?)
4) Someone who has been away from Dallas long enough to develop a rapport with coaches to grab outside of the Cowboys coaching trees- and select an OC of his own choice
5) Someone the players like playing for (never a criticism of Zimmer)
6) Someone who doesn't preach rhetorical positivity to grown men like they are 13 years old and putting pads on for the first time

I'd like a competitive team first and foremost. This team is not competitive unless they have an extreme edge in talent to their opponent. The D needs an overhaul, but Jerry won't reach past his own ego for coaches that can really build a blueprint for rebuilding. He refuses to rebuild. And I think someone like Zimmer might be able to turn 7-9, 8-8 to 10-6 or 11-5.

It's the only chance we have as a fanbase to get back in the hunt. RHG is done, Kiffin is gone, and something has to be done but I fear the next HC will be a ruse large enough to make Garrett look like Lombardi. At least a hard nosed, demanding coach like Zimmer will be a step forward from our flowering daisy at HC, our geriatric DC and can maybe cope with Jones' incompetence and get something done.

It really doesn't matter who the head coach is as long as JJ is still in charge. That said, the only option I see is Gruden, who did a good job at Oakland under a similar owner situation. Perhaps he could work within the broken system the Cowboys have to produce something competitive.

I don't care who as long as he doesn't have red hair and went to an Ivy League school. Give me coach Buttermaker or anyone else.

I already disagree with point #1. The last thing we need is someone familiar with the organization. We need an outsider who isn't part of Jerry's good ol' boys club to come shake things up.

Completely agree. If Jerry's comfortable, it's not going to work.

I'd rather have a true proven offensive innovator and teacher for Tony's sake. But if it has to be a "Jerry guy", I'm on board with Zimmer. People just remember all the griping about him when he was here, but they need to do more research. He's done a great job in Cincy with the talent he's been given. And he's a tough taskmaster. There's a reason Parcells loved this guy and said he should become a member of his "tribe".

Agree with it all. Would rather an innovative offensive guy, but nothing wrong with Zimmer

Vince Freakin' Lombardi couldn't fix this mess as long as Jerrah is still in charge.

I've had enough of offensive innovation. Not sure how I feel about Zimmer though. A good coordinator does not necessarily make a good head coach.

The Cowboys need a "proven" HC who's respected to get the team going in the right direction not a first time HC. A first time HC would be in over their head with this team and look like another Jerry Jones puppet.

I would literally cry if Mike Zimmer was the coach of this team. All it would mean is more of the same.

Sure give Zimmer a try, but I really don"t think it matters. Jerry is the problem and he isn't going anywhere
