Mild foot sprain for Dez

The MRI on Dez Bryant's left foot indicated a mild foot sprain and the Cowboys expect him to play Week 2.
The Cowboys have averted disaster as their top wideout has avoided a serious mid-foot sprain or Lisfranc issue. Bryant is unlikely to get in many practice reps this week, but we've seen him gut it out at less than 100 percent effectively before. Owners that are still worried can protect themselves a little by adding rookie backup Terrance Williams as a handcuff. The Cowboys face Brandon Flowers and the Chiefs on the road Sunday.

Can't get open if there blanketing coverage towards him and Garrett is not putting in counter measures as in motion bunch sets. Romo Is just going with what is open and not forcing the issue.

Why do anything different? Dez being doubled totally opens up the rest of the field for the Cowboy's HOF caliber TE and Miles Austin who is a 1200 yard reciever by himself if he remains healthy.

Dez will still get his. He may not hit 1500 yards this season, however, it may be better for the the team.

The Cowboys were incredibly lucky in this game in so many ways. Not one of the injuries has been as serious as it initially looked. To be honest, I thought Dez tore his ACL.

Furthermore, they escaped an early season game in which their offense looked out of sync. The Cowboys have games like this every year, and usually they result in Romo becoming impatient, tossing five picks, and a double-digit loss.

I agree. Dez will get his but the object is winning not putting up individual stats. If teams choose to take him out of the game fine we have other weapons that can make them pay, sooner or later teams will back off the doubles. Last thing Dallas needs to do is start forcing the ball because with that will come turnovers and that is a quick way to lose.

I'd agree, except for the double-digit part. Usually, it's a loss on a last-minute desperation drive where Tony Romo gets blamed for being a choker. That, or our pass defense being unable to make a stand when we have to have one.

Not Sunday, though. Our pass defense came up big, honestly, when I least expected it. I was already doing the math on how much time Tony would have to get into FG range. Don't lie...you guys all were, too.

Given that Eli was on a role yes I was thinking how much time will Romo have to get us in FG range. You wanted honesty lol

I was thinking we should "blow" another coverage and let them score quickly. Give Romo more time to get down the field and win it.. glad they didn't though.. kinda worked out better than I was expecting at that point in the game.

no one is going to call him injury prone? wow the trolls must be out today.

I wouldn't call Dez Bryant injury prone, however, I won't lie to you I worry A LOT about the amount of beating Dez Bryant takes out on the field due to his ability to gain extra yards based on his strength/size. I don't think it's fair to ask Dez to <not> fight for those extra yards, however, he represents as big target for LBs, DL, etc to hit and he has shown that he can accumulate a fair amount of wear and tear that has affected him in his short career.
  • 2010: Fractured ankle. Missed 4 games
  • 2011: Hurt his quad and missed one game due to injury that seemed to affect him in some of other early games that season
  • 2012: Missed no games due to injury however hurt his finger to the extent Dr's recommended he have seasoning ending surgery -- he declined (thankfully), however, came back and played against the Commanders and injured his back to the extend he couldn't walk and missed much of the 2nd half of that critical game
  • 2013: Sustained a minor foot sprain the opening game.

I was referencing the question he needs to get open then. I know he will get his and I to would prefer others to be involved .
