Jerry Jones: If Cowboys opened season today, Miles Austin would play. "We're basically just wanting to make sure he's ready for New York."

So now that it's settled that he is healthy, and it's the cowboys(Which is smart) who are just holding him back, because he is valuable. Can we stop dissing on Austin? Please?? :D

Then what will people do for fun? If Miles is not going to get picked on just means someone else will. :laugh2:

It still doesn't change the fact he's only had ONE FULL season of being healthy, and his hamstrings have been a problem MORE THAN ONCE.

very good player when he's not injured.

but he seriously has some of the most fragile hammy's I've ever witnessed.

If he was "healthy" he would be practicing and they would be giving him some work in preseason games. It's clear he's not healthy the team is just hoping he'll be well enough by Sept 5th to get a few plays out of him when it counts.

I could see them, telling him to just work on the side, with strength can conditioning.

They maybe just want him, to be extra cautious.

Played in 16 games in 2007, 2009 and 2010...

Makes sense. There's no need for him and Romo to work on timing or chemistry.

The Cowboys don't want him doing anything on it because it's still not right and it probably won't be right the entire season. The team is obviously very worried about it and they should be. Austin could probably play a few snaps on it but the Cowboys are going to wait until Sept 5th hoping they can get a few plays out of him when it counts. I'm no doctor but it's obvious Austin has a chronic hamstring issue that nothing the trainers try prevents. It's going to be a an issue all season and we can only hope he doesn't miss as many games as he did last season.

He could end up missing more games than last season because once he goes full bore on this latest hamstring injury it could sideline him for who knows how long. He's not going to be effective if he can't practice and is being nagged by that injury, I suggested during the offseason the Cowboys should try trading him because his hamstring issues aren't going away and he can't be depended on. It's going to be hard to move him now with this problem.

I'd say trade him for a 6th right now!{/sarcasm}

Who wants to bet Jerry won't be saying a different variation of this same thing in about 6 or 7 weeks?

Except then, it will be -- "If this was a playoff game, Miles Austin would play."
