Was just listening to the lunch break when the subject of Austin was discussed. Now I thought somewhere on this forum his name was already discussed re how well he played but couldn't find it so starting this new thread.

Anyway, both hosts mentioned Austin's speed and how the Cowboys should take advantage of it by going deep at least once a game. Now Austin doesn't have Terry Glenn speed but he does have real good speed--enough to stretch the field--and if Glenn unable to return this season and/or next season (hopefully Glenn can return and really contribute this year) then Austin could be the WR with speed we need. It was pointed out that if Austin hadn't been interfered with he would have caught at least one of those 2 throws for a huge gain/TD. I'm glad he's getting a chance to contribute at WR and hope it continues. Who knows what we have between Austin & Stanbach.

The first one atleast would have been Romo's sweetest bomb of the year. Romo really threw a pretty ball right in stride if not for the interference on the first one.

Yeah, I've been saying for at least four weeks (not here, but on another forum) that Dallas needed to start using Austin or Stanback some as the third receiver.

I like Hurd, but he just doesn't have the speed to consistently threaten a defense deep like those two. I guess it was a good thing Crayton was hurt last week because that allowed Austin to make a couple of plays and show off his speed, and possibly led to his increased opportunities this week.

You are right......I was hoping maybe Stanback would do what Austin is doing....so this is a pleasant surprise

Austin is faster then Glenn. Although Glenn may be faster in pads. Glenn is more quickness then speed (but still has speed), and he's our best deep threat (Glenn). Best deep threat doesn't necessarily mean "Fastest".

yeah he really impressed me in that game because of both of those PI calls he had some really good seperation. I was getting worried about his progress during preseason because of all the dropped passes he had.
