With injuries I see it as prudent.
I mean sure............ if we lived in an uncapped world where Jerry could spend whatever he wanted to fill holes and paper over roster mistakes.

But for this team, using a first round pick on a center while also signing a center to a fairly sizable long term deal would be just poor roster building. Most teams want their first round pick to make an impact and start. So does JPJ start? Well in that scenario, you now have a backup C making $7MM a year. That's just a really bad cap situation to be in. Conversely, if Biadasz somehow starts, then you have your first round pick sitting the bench which isn't a great situation either. Especially considering you got nothing out of this year's first round pick.

The only way Biadasz and JPJ both being on the Cowboys makes any sense is if the plan is one of those guys plays OG allowing Tyler Smith to play OT. Or that Biadasz has such a terrible market out there that he comes back cheap on a one or two year deal. $7MM a year ain't cheap.

Spotrac predicts a $7MM AAV contract for Josey Jewell. That would be a way better use of $7MM AAV.

As we sit here at this moment, I like round 2 better than round 1. That said WR is also a need.

21. Miami Dolphins- Jer'Zhan Newton DT Illinois
22. Philadelphia Eagles - Quinyon Mitchell CB Toledo
23. Houston Texans (Cleveland) - Kool-Aid McKinstry CB Alabama

24. Dallas Cowboys - Keon Coleman WR Florida St.
Though Brandin Cooks made a big impact as the 2023 season progressed, Dallas has needed a running mate for CeeDee Lamb since trading Amari Cooper. Coleman, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound receiver, had 11 touchdowns on just 50 catches in his lone season at Florida State following his transfer from Michigan State. He needs help separating at times, but facing the opposing team's CB2 would be light work given his size, catch radius and toughness running through contact.

25. Green Bay Packers - Cooper DeJean CB Iowa
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Troy Fautanu G Washington
27. Arizona Cardinals (Houston) - JC Latham T Alabama
28. Buffalo Bills - Jackson Powers-Johnson C Oregon

34. New England Patriots - Patrick Paul T Houston
35. Arizona Cardinals - Nate Wiggins CB Clemson
36. Washington (Red)skins - Chris Braswell DE Alabama
37. Los Angeles Chargers - Edgerrin Cooper - LB Texas A&M

42. Minnesota Vikings - Michael Penix Jr. - QB Washington
43. Atlanta Falcons - Devontez Walker WR North Carolina
44. Las Vegas Raiders - Troy Franklin WR Oregon
45. New Orleans Saints (Denver) - Xavier Legette WR South Carolina
46. Indianapolis Colts - Malachi Corley WR Western Kentucky
47. New York Giants (Seattle) - Kris Jenkins DT Michigan
48. Jacksonville Jaguars - Roman Wilson WR Michigan
49. Cincinnati Bengals - Ja'Tavion Sanders TE Texas
50. Philadelphia Eagles (New Orleans) - Tyler Nubin S Minnesota
51. Pittsburgh Steelers - Zach Frazier C West Virginia
52. Los Angeles Rams - Bralen Trice DE Washington
53. Philadelphia Eagles - Junior Colson LB Michigan
54. Cleveland Browns - T'Vondre Sweat DT Texas
55. Miami Dolphins - Cooper Beebe G Kansas St.

56. Dallas Cowboys - Kingsley Suamataia G BYU
The impending free agency of left tackle Tyron Smith could move 2022 first-rounder Tyler Smith to left tackle, opening the door for an addition along the offensive line in Round 2. Suamataia is an easy-moving, aggressive blocker who has experience at left tackle. He took snaps at right tackle and guard at the Senior Bowl, too, and handled himself quite well working inside. Losing a future Hall of Famer in Tyron Smith won't be easy, but the Dallas offensive line would be in good hands with Suamataia entering the fold.

57. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Kamren Kinchens S Miami
58. Green Bay Packers - Jonathon Brooks RB Texas
59. Houston Texans - Leonard Davis III DT Miami
60. Buffalo Bills - Ja'Lynn Polk WR Washington
61. Detroit Lions - T.J. Tampa CB Iowa St.
62. Baltimore Ravens - Javon Bullard S Georgia
63. San Francisco 49ers - Adisa Isaac - DE Penn St.
64. Kansas City Chiefs - Michael Hall Jr. DT Ohio St.
You're back on the Wentz sauce if you think they should draft Coleman in the first.

Not a big fan of Coleman…worried he might struggle separating at the next level.

I really like and Keon Coleman and Kingsley Suamataia.

Coleman originally played football and basketball at my alma mater. I'm big on two-sport athletes, especially one capable of playing for Tom Izzo. Suamataia was #1 draft crush coming into this past season.

That being said, if Cooper DeJean is on the board, you take him. He's a difference maker and can legitimately play 3 positions on your Defense.

In the 2nd, they had T'Vondre Sweat going 54th. If he drops anywhere close to 56, you go get him. I'm not a big fan of drafting him in the 1st, but there is not a player in the 2nd round that I think would have more of an immediate impact for the Cowboys than Sweat would.

The reasoning didn't exactly get me warmed up on him.

You need separation unless the player is a freak like Megatron for jump balls/contested catch ability. That being said I don't know much about Coleman so still open to the player.

The way this draft plays out will be very interesting to watch. WR could very well be on the table at 24, so could a CB. We all want them to take a dominate OT, but there may not be one there. And TBH, I just can't see them taking a G/C at 24 unless it's a Zack Martin type player that falls.
The only one I've seen projected in that area is Barton. But doubt he'd be BPA

No to WR in the 1st and in no world is Suamataia making it to 56. Might need to pick him at 24.
You take BPA at your pick - no matter who it is. Coleman would be hard to overthrow, even for Dak.

Tyler is NOT A LT - AT ALL. We already have our future LT in Asim Richards. We need a center and LB - anything else works.

With the current status of QB1, I'd almost rather just take Penix unless a great LB or DT falls into our laps. Rough championship game but he never folded. I like his toughness, accuracy, and mind. Unless the coaching staff really saw something in Lance, it would make alot of sense for Penix to understudy with Dak, much like Love did with Rodgers. It allows a very talented player develop properly while Dak rides out the last bit of his tenure here. In other words, it secures our future.

Hate pick 1, but would do back flips for Kingsley in round 2.
