Milroe huge pro day

Milroe has been a MESS his entire college career.
ANYONE using a first on him is dumber than Jethro
Thats just not so. Go look at his 2023 numbers. He was much better when Saban coached the team. When Deboer came in , everything changed and that's not on Milroe. Different coaches , different offense, not much talent around him. Alabama was a mess last year and understandably so.

He could easily go to the Steelers at 21 after his pro day throwing and the 4.37 he put down.

Anthony Richardson....I mean Jalen Milroe...........................
Not a good comp. Anthony Richardson barely played college football. He started one year and wasn't that good. He was a 100% projection based on his workouts, and never put up a season like Milroe did in 2023 under Saban. DeBoers offense did not fit him , and he struggled in that system. He's a project and you can't put him in a traditional pocket offense. He's like Jalen Hurts in terms of. being a passer, but much faster. Only 3 QB's in NFL history have run better than 4.37 : Vick and Lamar. Thats a short list.

He's a faster, more athletic Dak.
I think a franchise like Baltimore could get the most out of him.
But not Dallas.
Now if he's there in the fifth ...

If Milroe is taken in the draft like Hurts, IE not expected to be a day 1 starter, with the right coaching staff, I think he can develop.

Just when I see him in some mocks in round 1, boy, that to me is an overdraft.

He can make the throws in the pro-day, but the tape showed him with some flaws when dealing with the pass rush. Once again, I don't expect every QB to be andrew Luck "perfect" coming out of the draft, but I think Milroe has the tools, but it's getting him to put them in the toolbox correctly and not rushing it.

I think this draft class sucks for QB. After Ward, it's a diva, then guys that have a decent ceiling but also a low floor if they don't pan out.

Qb's are always overdrafted. Heck, Kenny Picket, Trey Lance, and Anthony Richardson were first round picks. Is Milroe really that much different in terms if upside potential? It's a Qb league. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Steelers took Milroe at 21 and let him sit for a year behind Aaron Rodgers. I heard talk about Vegas liking him. Milroe has flown under the radar this year b/c Bama's new offense was a mess and did not suite his talents. But, he apparently showed a lot at his pro day.

Anthony Richardson will probably, and justifiably, be a cautionary tale for taking a QB that is an athlete 1st early.

Milroe and Richardson played very similar in that they both essentially had 3 reads on every play…quick throw, chuck it deep, or take off and run. It’s just not the way QB is played in the NFL.

Milroe needs a Jordan Love type situation where he can sit and learn for 2 years before touching the field…just not sure that team exists at the moment

I looked at every big game which you seem to want to overlook

Your response didn't make sense because all 3 of those guys had character issues and Milroe is a high character guy.
Tebow was a high character guy but that did not help did it?

There are LOTS of high character BUSTS because they were athletes not QBs

get it now?

Those two to me were projects. Especially with Lance sitting out his last year. He barely played QB in a D-II school. Scouts felll in love with his size, athletics and his arm strength.
Richardson is almost Milroe, but worse as a passer, like where the athletics are there but he never showed consistency at his program as a passer. In one one year where he actually threw the ball he was a 53.8% passer. Carried over into the NFL. Scouts fell in love with his size, speed and arm and hoped the the accuracy and other issues could be fixed. Some thought he could be Cam Newtom-lite and ignored that he was a worse passer than Tebow-without the awful mechanics.

If the Steelers want to burn a 1st on him, sounds good to me. They haven't had an eye for QB talent since Cowher was there.
Maybe DeBoers offense didn't suit Milroe...How does that sound when your talking about an offense Penix could handle, but Milroe couldn't and now he's going to be playing in the NFL, with players that are all fast, cream of the crop from the NCAA, with defensive coverages that can be schemed/hidden. If he can't read a defense or, it won't help what system he's in.

I don't hate Bama nor Milroe, just think he's a QB that needs real time on the bench-where he can actually develop his craft as a QB. Once these guys go in round 1, everyone wants to see them on the field ASAP.

If a QB doesn't look good at their own pro-day, that's a(nother) red flag.

Pickett had one good year at Pitt, Stealers draft him probably in some effect that he was a homedown boy in another **** QB class. Dude supposedly had some entitlement ego issues there. Dude just wasn't that good, and mentally weak.

We could do that soon. Prescott is going to be mid 30's when his deal is up and you have to wonder if injuries are going to take its toll before that contract is up. I could see us in on QB's next year

Penix is a pure pocket passer. Milroe is not. It's like putting Jalen Hurts or Lamar Jackson into a West Coast offense. It's a bad match of QB and offense. Milroe is going to need an offense suited to his skillset if he's your guy. Philly or Baltimore might also be good landing sports for him since neither team has anyone with upside backing up QB1. I just look at Pittsburgh b/c they have Mason Rudolph as QB1 right now, and reports are that the Steelers love Milroe.

The reason you take the QB in round 1 is the extra cheap year on the contract, particularly with the project guys like Milroe. #21 is not much different than a second round pick a lot of years. We know from leaked draft boards that the cowboys rarely have first round grades on more than 20 guys.

If the QB is good though, they rarely will play on the 5th year tender.

Last few young guys that showed potential in Love and Tua both got signed before playing on the 5th year option. Sure, it's cheaper than a franchise tag, but the 5th year becomes fully guaranteed at exercising the tender, while the FT can be added right before the contract expires.

He definitely will have a better chance of success if he goes to a team that is like Balt or Eagles that currently have a QB that can throw on the run, rollout, and run with the ball than going to an offense that's OC is geared to inside the pocket passing.

Just think for Baltimore for example, it makes sense if he falls to day 2. Day 1, ideally you still want to build for Lamar Jackson and not add his replacement like the Packers did with Rodgers and Love.

Why is it a good thing?
Its not a good thing.

Because pro days are to show case your abilities... but what you see at a pro day does not translate to what you see in game.

You can be accurate all you want at a pro day but that doesn't erase the tape on his inaccuracies in live games..
